It’s Faux You! Playing on The Playford Ball, a brief history of John Playford and the English Dancing master, we invite you to the 2022 Faux Ball.
In the 1600s, English society got bored with dancing the complicated and difficult-to-learn formal dances (which were very much display dances for couples to show off) and started dancing ‘country dances’ for light relief.
English country dances are elegant social dances from the 17th and 18th centuries. They are danced to Baroque and early music. Every dancer is taught the basics, so beginners are always welcome and no partners are needed.
FAUX diamonds, fur, historical costumes encouraged, but not required! LIVE MUSIC by Coleraine!
Online registration available.
