Ananya Dance Theatre‘s NextGen Choreolab is a 9-month mentorship for BIPOC women/femme dance artists working in non-mainstream aesthetics, to deeply investigate choreographic practice and structure.
Timeline
Monday, June 10: Call opens.
Sunday, June 30, 11:59pm: Call closes.
August: All applicants are notified of decisions. Cohort publicly announced.
October 2024 – late June 2025: Term of mentorship.
Artists are invited to create an entirely new work of choreography. Mentorship includes $7000 stipend, 20 hours rehearsal space, scheduled mentorship time and in-progress showings for mentors, a final performance for an invited audience, and video documentation for artist’s use.
Eligibility
- Limited previous experience/training in choreographic craft
- Little external support for generative work
- Demonstrated readiness for committed choreographic investigation
- Physical availability in the Twin Cities Metro area for in-person participation
- 18 years of age or older
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
