Ongoing Classes and Gatherings
Katha Dance Theatre (KDT) is excited to announce its 2024-25 Fall Semester! KDT has moved to a semester system with 15 classes per semester. However, its approach to teaching has not changed! Classes are now taking place at its new studio, which is located just down the street from its old space.
KDT emphasizes strong classical Kathak technique, graceful movements, intricate footwork, pirouettes, and storytelling to radiate energy and joy. Its beautiful St. Louis Park studio offers a warm and welcoming environment. More than a dance style, Kathak promotes artistic expression and creativity; increases flexibility, agility, and grace; establishes strong mind-body connections and coordination; and provides important cultural context and knowledge. It is also adaptable to any skill level; all dancers over the age of 6 are welcome!
New dancers are introduced to the fundamentals of classical Kathak dance with a focus on its technique, terminology, and execution of dance syllables along with elements of storytelling. Returning students build upon their established technique and skill level as they advance their ability in the classroom.
Classes for brand-new beginners will take place on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm (children 6-10) and 7:30pm (youth/adults 11+). Your first class is free!
Registration includes submission of a full tuition payment through KDT’s website.
Scholarships are available on the basis of financial need or merit and are awarded at the discretion of KDT teaching staff.
KDT strives to make its programming accessible to people of all backgrounds and abilities. Please contact us to let us know how we can meet your needs.
