A recreational class perfect for adults of any experience level. We will explore the basics of various modern dance techniques focusing on alignment, mobility, and expression.
Rae Charles Harge holds a BFA in Dance with honors from the Tisch School of the Arts and was also recognized as one of the most “up and coming young choreographers” participating in the 2012 Young Choreographer’s Festival in New York City. She has performed the repertoire of Robert Battle, Ron K. Brown, David Dorfman, Larry Kegwin, Alonzo King, Nicholas Leichter, Sydney Skybetter, Kate Weare, and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, among many others, before joining Threads Dance Project as a full company member in 2014. Currently, she is fulfilling her passions for the arts, educational reform, and social justice as she pursues a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Minnesota and through her continued teaching practice at the Threads Dance Nexus.
Her approach to modern combines influences from Horton, ballet, jazz, and release techniques to help students develop kinesthetic awareness, a sense of groundedness, and the ability to utilize opposition and momentum.
