Open Call: Embodied Research

Victoria Styrbicki | A House Unbuilt is currently looking for collaborators to participate in Caught Up…, an embodied research practice.

In its current iteration, Caught Up… has been looking at the connection between conservation, fisheries, and the oil and gas industry over time in coastal Louisiana—how do we evolve with today’s environmental concerns in a place like Louisiana without vilifying our past or our people? This story of extractive industries impacting our waters exists as a concentrated microcosm along the Gulf coast, but it exists here in Minnesota and elsewhere. How do we share knowledge and use the body to process complex situations?

Artistic Director Styrbicki has gathered hundreds of hours of interview material and begun a weaving practice in connection with the net-making culture being displaced in Louisiana. It is time to explode the movement out of the hands and into the body. It is time to share knowledge with movers at the top of the river and put the body to work in this research.

Audition
By appointment. Contact: Victoria at 337-794-8222, victoria@ahouseunbuilt.com

Compensation
Full disclosure: Unknown at this time. Raising funds.
