James Sewell Ballet (JSB) is seeking dancers for both project and full contract work in the 2023/24 season.

JSB currently consists of six dancers willing to challenge their physical limits, perform a range of emotions, and play with the boundaries of ballet. The company rehearses in Minneapolis, MN, and performs three full programs a year, in addition to other outreach and touring engagements. Choreographic and teaching opportunities regularly exist throughout the season.

Dancers well suited for this job will:

  • Have excellent ballet technique and contemporary movement.
  • Have strong improvisational skills, or minimally an eagerness to learn.
  • Have good partnering knowledge and ability, including sustained overhead lifts for men and ability to weight-share for all.
  • Enjoy teaching opportunities that include company classes and outreach with all ages.
  • Be enthusiastic about actively participating in the creative process.
  • Bring individual competitiveness and interest in growing as an artist, and excitement to be a part of a small, cooperative team.

JSB offers 26- to 30-week competitive contracts. Starting salary is no less than $700 per week for a full-contract position. The mission of James Sewell Ballet is to transform dance, artists, and audiences through rich collaboration, education, and equitable opportunities.

Heart of Dance is Hiring an Executive Director

Heart of Dance is hiring an Executive Director! Heart of Dance delivers the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of partner dance to those who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to experience them. Dancing Classrooms, our foundational program, teaches crucial life skills like confidence, cultural awareness, conflict resolution, and gender respect through the lens of partner dance in schools across Minnesota. In classrooms of fifth and eighth graders, we engage students with these concepts at an age proven to have the greatest impact.

Partner dance leads to confidence, self-expression, joyful movement, discipline, human connection, and more. Through partner dance, Heart of Dance is helping people discover all they can be.

The Minnesota Ballet Collective is committed to empowering advanced ballet dancers by fostering artists’ creativity, collaboration, and passion. Please wear ballet attire – bring ballet shoes and pointe shoes.

Dancers are welcome to arrive up to 30 minutes early to warm up.

Threads Dance Project Job Openings

Threads Dance Project has the following job opportunities available:

Development Coordinator
The Development Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the development strategy for the Karen L. Charles Threads Dance Project. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for grant writing and reporting, and individual donor management. The Development Coordinator reports to the Managing Director.

Managing Director
The Managing Director supports the Artistic/Executive director in guiding the company’s voice and vision. The Managing Director is responsible for the success, performance, and strategies of the business. The Managing Director manages all business operations and ventures and will report to the Artistic/Executive Director.

Programs and Engagement Coordinator
The Programs and Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for managing/coordinating outreach, touring, education programs goals and activities for the Karen L. Charles Threads Dance Project. These duties include but are not limited to leveraging key relationships and contacts within and outside of the Threads’ network, working with the Board and other team members to implement outreach, touring, educational and programs goals, and managing these goals through experience, organization skills, communication skills, and leadership.

Collide Theatrical Apprentice Program

The 2023/2024 Apprentice Program – September 2023–May 2024

Collide Theatrical’s Apprentice Program provides the skills needed to pursue formal positions within the Collide company and in the world of theater dance. Selected Apprentice dancers will take technique class with the company 3–5 days a week, have an opportunity to perform in a Collide show, and participate in an Apprentice showcase at the end of the year.

Technical classes include a variety of styles rooted in ballet and jazz, but also including tap, acting for dance, and hip-hop. Apprentice dancers will also have an opportunity to participate in monthly master classes with Broadway touring dance captains and industry professionals.

This is a tuition-based program.
Enrollment is competitive and audition based.
Scholarships are available for underrepresented artists.
Video submissions accepted.

Movement as Language Seeks Collaborating Artists

DanceCo Seeks Dancers for Summer Performing Season

DanceCo is returning to the stage after a three-year hibernation and is seeking kid-loving dancers for a fun, outdoor summer performance season! We produce original, interactive dance productions for young audiences and their families.

The choreography will range from jazz and ballet to body percussion and musical theater styles. Dancers must be expressive performers well versed in comic timing and comfortable engaging with young children. Choreography by Matthew Keefe and Karla Nweje. This summer’s relaunch, Dance Around Minnesota, features existing repertoire and new work built around our lovely state, its features, stories, and notable destinations. 

Rehearsals and performances are paid at a competitive rate. The initial rehearsal period will be scheduled on Sunday afternoons/evenings, with additional dates added as available and needed. 

All performances at 10:00am and 11:30am:
