Summer Study weeks offer serious dance students a highly concentrated curriculum in classical ballet and modern training with accomplished faculty and acclaimed guest artists.

At St. Paul Ballet each student’s individual development is supported through our nurturing environment. It is our passion to develop students for success in performing their best as artists, physically and emotionally. Students will learn techniques that reflect the diversity and range required by major ballet companies today.

Hip Hop/Modern Dancer Audition

Casting Notice: Our production company is looking for an experienced hip hop/modern female dancer, 18 years or older for a video for a creative real estate company which transforms older buildings into beautiful new spaces. We are casting a dancer to dance throughout the building/s.

The audition is to be self-taped, minimum of 45 seconds long, and emailed prior to 1:00pm on Thursday, February 9. Movements should be fast-paced. Please do not send examples from past performances or group dances.
Call-backs will be in person, with filming at the end of February.

Dron-In Adult Dancers – Audition for Carmen

Calling adult/teen drop-in dancers! Want to take part in our spring production of Carmen in the 1920s?

Ballet Co.Laboratory welcomes all drop-in students to audition to be a part of our spring production. This audition will take place on Saturday, February 18 from 12:15-1:00pm at the Ballet Co.Laboratory studios.

There is no audition fee, and this will be an unpaid position.

Taja Will and Mathew Janczewski Seek Dancers for Two New Projects

Two-day audition process blending modern, contemporary, and improvisational skills. We encourage you to attend both days, but it is not required.

Auditioning for two project ensembles, ARENA DANCES seeks experienced dancers with strong technical, artistic, and creative abilities for Erased Steps. Choreographers Taja Will and Mathew Janczewski seek artists for a new “Merge” collaboration.

Erased Steps – ARENA DANCES’ artistic director, Mathew Janczewski, and fellow collaborators Dustin Haug, Leslie O’Neill, and Laura Selle Virtucio seek dancers for a new ensemble work of 12-15 dancers that will premiere August 24 and 25 at Union Depot in St. Paul and tour to Rochester, MN to perform August 26 at the Rochester Civic Center. Professional dancers of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be asked to improvise, as well as learn phrase work. We are looking for diverse performers who are creative, collaborative, and expressive. Must be available starting May to August, 2023.

Callbacks Tuesday, March 28 from 6:00-8:00pm.
Rehearsals to be determined amongst the ensemble.

“Merge” – Choreographer’s Mathew Janczewski and Taja Will seek dancers for a new ensemble work that will premiere in March 2024 on the Goodale Stage, at the Cowles Center. Taja (they/them), is a QTBIPOC, disabled artist whose process is rooted in a restorative justice pedagogy, healing, and disability justice foundations and proposes structured improvisation as a performance modality in a collaboratively authored process. Their studio ethos is one of emergence and care work, focus and rigor, ritual and magic. Will and Janczewski meet at their shared passion for witnessing one’s self-expression through movement and their longtime friendship for the creation of this new work.

Participants will be asked to engage with rigorous attention to improvisation as a technique and performance modality as well as to work collaboratively on spontaneous choreographic choice-making. Must be available for an intensive 3-week rehearsal process September-November, 2023, and again February-March, 2024.

No call back required, will follow up with conversations via email.

You may audition for one or both projects. In-person auditions are given priority. RSVP is appreciated, please do so by 5:00pm, Thursday, March 23 through this form. If you are unable to audition in person, you may submit a short video (under 5 minutes) in your registration form. Please include improvisation as well as performance footage.

Dancers are paid $20/hour for rehearsals and a flat performance run of $500.

Twin Cities Ballet: Openings for 2023/24 Season

Twin Cities Ballet has two open company positions for our 2023/24 Season (one contract for male/male-identifying dancer, one for female/female-identifying dancer). Soloist and Principal level, competitive salaried position, 34-week season. Strong classical ballet, partnering, and contemporary skills required. You must be eligible to work in the United States. We also have limited openings for unpaid apprenticeships and student trainee positions for both male and female dancers.

Collide Theatrical 2023/24 Apprentice Program Audition

Collide’s 2023/2024 Apprentice Program, September 2023-May 2024: Collide Theatrical’s Apprentice Program provides the skills needed to pursue formal positions within the Collide company and in the world of theater dance.

Selected Apprentices will take daily technique class with the company, have an opportunity to perform in a Collide show, and participate in an apprentice showcase at the end of the year.

The daily technical classes include a variety of styles, rooted in ballet and jazz, but also including tap, acting for dance, and hip-hop. Apprentice dancers will also have an opportunity to participate in quarterly master classes with Broadway touring dance captains and industry professionals.

This is a tuition-based program.

  • Scholarships are available for underrepresented artists.
  • Enrollment is competitive and audition based.
  • Video submissions accepted.

James Sewell Ballet Audition Notice

James Sewell Ballet (JSB) is seeking dancers for both project and full contract work in the 2023/24 season.

JSB currently consists of six dancers willing to challenge their physical limits, perform a range of emotions, and play with the boundaries of ballet. The company rehearses in Minneapolis, MN, and performs three full programs a year, in addition to other outreach and touring engagements. Choreographic and teaching opportunities regularly exist throughout the season.

Dancers well suited for this job will:

  • Have excellent ballet technique and contemporary movement.
  • Have strong improvisational skills, or minimally an eagerness to learn.
  • Have good partnering knowledge and ability, including sustained overhead lifts for men and ability to weight-share for all.
  • Enjoy teaching opportunities that include company classes and outreach with all ages.
  • Be enthusiastic about actively participating in the creative process.
  • Bring individual competitiveness and interest in growing as an artist, and excitement to be a part of a small, cooperative team.

JSB offers 26-30 week competitive contracts. Starting salary is no less than $700 per week for a full-contract position. The mission of James Sewell Ballet is to transform dance, artists, and audiences through rich collaboration, education, and equitable opportunities.

Part-Time Admin at Paragon Pilates and Physical Therapy

Job Description:

  • 10-20 hours/week.
  • $15/hour for a 3-month trial period; pay will be adjusted according to experience after that.
  • Must be positive, proactive, personable, comfortable answering phones, proficient in working with clients, and able to take directions and follow through independently.
  • Computer experience required (proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel), with the ability to learn new programming as needed.
  • Organizational skills and accuracy are a must.
  • Social media knowledge is a plus. Mindbody Online experience is a plus.
  • Looking to be part of a growing company. 1-2 year commitment highly preferred.

Young Dance Seeks Teaching Artists for 2022–23 Session and Beyond

Young Dance is seeking teachers, assistants, and substitutes for 2022-23 and beyond. Teachers with experience in the following styles are encouraged to apply: Hip Hop, Jazz, Musical Theater, Afro-Modern, Modern/Contemporary, Ballet, Percussive, and Creative Movement. Experience working with dancers of all abilities is a plus, but not required.

Founded in 1987, we believe young people are artists with something important to say and that working across differences is a benefit to all. Our mission is to transform lives through movement. We are an inclusive community where creativity flourishes and healthy risk-taking is encouraged. Our classes are open to everyone of all levels and abilities. Participants enjoy our collaborative and student-led approach to dance education. Our curriculum emphasizes technique, improvisation, and choreography through the elements of dance: Body, Action, Space, Time, and Energy. Dancers develop skills in observing, participating, and reflecting in a safe and supportive environment that values a commitment to self, to the group, and to lifelong learning.

The pay rate is $48/hour for lead teaching, and $24/hour for assisting.
