Northrop Seeking Campus Engagement Coordinator

Northrop, the University of Minnesota’s primary gathering place for the performing arts, is hiring a Campus Engagement Coordinator!

The Position:

As a member of Northrop’s Programming and Engagement team, the Campus Engagement Coordinator connects Northrop’s activities and venues with students, faculty, and staff on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus. This position participates in planning and implementation of the Northrop Presents season and is the primary liaison with campus constituencies for performances, residencies, and engagement activities. The Campus Engagement Coordinator reports to the Engagement Manager and supervises an intern, tracks and evaluates Northrop’s campus impact, and provides administrative support to Northrop’s Programming and Engagement team and Northrop’s IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility) work. Salary range is $40,000-$45,000, depending on experience.

Audition Workshop Classes with Christopher Watson Dance

Dancers interested in performing with the Christopher Watson Dance Company are invited to take workshop classes with the company on two Sundays, April 24 and May 1 from 2:00-4:30 PM. The free classes will include modern technique, company repertoire and improvisation.

Christopher Watson Dance Company is multigenerational and its dance works draw on classic modern technique, including Cunningham, Limon and Taylor. Company and guest choreographers employ improvisation and create in collaboration with the dancers. Musical scores range from Western classical and romantic to contemporary and pop.

Upcoming performances include a concert at Minnesota Opera’s newly renovated Luminary Arts Center (formerly The Lab Theater) in Minneapolis’ North Loop the week of October 31-November 6, 2022.

Dancers are paid hourly for rehearsals and performances.

Ballet Royale: Accepting Video Auditions for Summer Intensives

We are still accepting video auditions for our summer intensives! Four unique opportunities available; video auditions accepted until June 1. 

Focused Training Program (June 13-30) – ages 11 and up or Division I & II dancers (ages 8 and up) can take our one week June Intensive. Audition required for dancers new to Ballet Royale.

Male Dancer Intensive (June 20-24) – ages 10 through professional. A one week Intensive Program for motivated aspiring Male Identifying Dancers. Audition/pre-approval required.
July 11-29:

July Summer Intensive (ages 8 through professional) Ballet Royale’s July Intensive has been developed to give students the ultimate experience in dance, featuring top-quality professional teachers and guest Master Teachers. Audition required for Division II and up (dancers nine and older). 

Grand Prix Variations Workshop (August 8-19) – ages 9 and up. This is a focused ballet and variations workshop specializing in preparing dancers for performing or competing in national ballet competitions. Pre-competitive, Junior, and Senior Divisions. Audition required.

Zenon Dance School Seeking Summer Office Intern

Zenon is looking for an intern this summer! Learn more about the 2022 Summer Office Intern position and how to apply on our website. 

Responsibilities:

Assist Zenon Dance School’s School Director and School Coordinator with general office functions and  school operations. This includes assisting in data entry and management, customer communication, hosting ZenONLINE classes via Zenon’s Zoom platform, in-person class check-in and customer service, basic marketing support, and with planning projects as they arise.

Skills:

  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Self-motivated and willing to take initiative
  • Familiarity with MS Office including Excel
  • Willingness to work on a wide variety of projects
  • Knowledge of dance or interest in arts administration strongly preferred

Dates: 

Interns must commit to a minimum of 10 weeks and 10-12 hours per week. Availability: Saturday and Sunday mornings preferred. Start and end dates are flexible. Duties include in-person and remote tasks.

Audition for Live @ The Shed 2022

Choreographers Berit Ahlgren (HoneyWorks) and Helen Hatch (Hatch Dance) seek dancers for a new ensemble work that will premiere at the third annual Live @ The Shed, taking place July 30-31, 2022. Professional dancers of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be asked to improvise, as well as learn phrase work. We are looking for individuals who are creative, collaborative, and expressive.

Audition held at St. Paul Ballet:

Sunday, April 3 between 2:00pm-5:30pm or
Monday, April 4 between 10:00am-1:00pm

Time slots will be assigned following registration and confirmed through email by April 1. If you are unable to audition in person, you may submit a short video (under 5 minutes) in your registration form. Please include improvisation as well as performance footage.

Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays between April 18-July 31. Full schedule will be sent as part of the agreement, and will include optional class before scheduled rehearsal times.

Ballet Co.Laboratory Trainee Program Auditions for 2022/23 Season

Ballet Co.Laboratory is holding auditions for our 2022/23 Trainee Program on March 27, 2022. 

The Trainees of Ballet Co.Laboratory are advanced level students, typically ages 15-22, who study three times a week, during the day, alongside the professional Company of Ballet Co.Laboratory. Trainees are also enrolled in Ballet Co.Laboratory’s Pre-Professional program and participate in all season productions and outreach performances. 

In-person auditions will be held at the Ballet Co.Laboratory Studios at 276 E. Lafayette Frontage Rd in Saint Paul. Dancers should be prepared for a short class consisting of barre and center and learning excerpts of BCL repertoire. 

Registration opens at 11:30 and class will begin promptly at 12pm. 

Prior to auditions, please submit the TRAINEE AUDITION/SUBMISSION FORM, with or without a video link. There is no audition fee. 

Unable to attend our in-person auction? We are also accepting video auditions. Video auditions must include a short ballet center combination, short center pointe combination, and performance footage if possible. Videos should be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo. Please no videos longer than 3 minutes. There is no audition fee. All video audition materials are due by May 1, 2022. 

Final decisions will be communicated over email by June 1, 2022.

Trainee season will begin early September 2022 and go through late May 2023.

Katha Dance Theatre Seeks Guest Artist for Upcoming Performance

Katha Dance Theatre (KDT) is a professional dance company that has been performing Kathak, the North Indian classical dance form, for over three decades. Kathak is an elegant dance form characterized by rhythmic footwork, graceful hand gestures, pirouettes, lyrical movements, and storytelling.

KDT seeks a male/male-identifying dancer to perform as a guest artist in its upcoming production of Black Candle. The production is a collection of five dances enacting poems that evoke South Asian female joy, love, power and strength in overcoming adversity, and the guest artist would be needed for one dance.

Applicants should have professional dance experience with a background in ballet, modern, contemporary and/or tap dance. Theatrical experience is preferred, but not required.

Rehearsals take place on Monday/Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons, though the guest artist will not be needed at every rehearsal. The guest artist should be able to start rehearsing by mid-April, where they will be needed intermittently through the end of May. Tech week is May 30 – June 2.
