Call for Proposals for Right Here Showcase 7

Call for proposals are now open for the The Right Here Showcase, an annual juried performance series providing four artists a financial commission with tech, marketing, and administrative support to present a 45-60 minute work of contemporary performance. Artists perform on two shared weekends.

Deadline to apply: Sunday, March 20, 11:59pm

In this the 7th iteration of the Right Here Showcase, the series will focus on experimental theater artists and works. An applicant artist may be principally identified in another performance discipline (as a dancer, visual artist, composer, etc.), but the proposed work must be a work of theater. What is Theater? You will tell us by virtue of the work you are proposing.

As with past years, the Selection Panel will, through their deliberations and decisions, seek to establish biographical and artistic diversity within the group of artists to be commissioned.

The program was founded by Artistic Producer Paul Herwig, a movement theater actor and creator, scenic designer, animation/projection artist, and co-artistic director of Off-Leash Area Contemporary Performance Works, now in its 23rd year. This year he is joined in leadership by Marcela Michelle, who was Artistic Director of 20% Theatre company from 2019 until it’s closing in 2022, and an associate producer there before that, producing many new works showcases. She is also the Artistic Co-Director and Director of Programming for Lightning Rod – a Trans-led arts organism focused on Legacy, Development, and Opportunity for QTGNC artists and activists in Minnesota.

Financial Commission: Thanks to increased funding by our sole granting source, the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, the individual artist’s fee will increase 60% from $1,000 to $1,600 per artist.
