Threads Dance Nexus is Looking for Teachers

Threads Dance Nexus is looking for dance teachers of diverse backgrounds to join our team for our Dance Connections Summer Intensive, July 19-30. The ideal candidate should be an experienced dance educator, with a deep commitment to social justice, equity, and a heart for building and maintaining community. We at the Threads Dance Nexus believe dance is for everyone, and seeks instructors who can help students connect dance to their communities and themselves. There is potential for additional work after the intensive and during our fall session.

Successful applicants must:

Be available during class times:
July 19-23, 9:00am-12:30 pm; 1:00-3:30pm and/or
July 26-30, 9:00am-12:30 pm; 1:00-4:30pm

Have ability/experience teaching Hip-Hop (all ages)
Have ability/experience teaching Ballet (ages 4-6)
Have ability/experience teaching Modern (ages 7-10)

Our Dance Connections 2021 Summer Intensive includes developmentally appropriate movement classes in Ballet, Modern, Creative Movement, Composition/Choreography, Improvisation, and Hip-Hop. We are especially eager for our students to experience the distinctive arts activism and dance history course that gives our summer intensive its name!

The Threads Dance Nexus is a brand new community hub that not only provides a home for the company but also strengthens the social fabric of our Minneapolis community through the connective power of dance.

Administrative Assistant – Part Time, Off-Leash Area

Job Description:
Administrative Assistant – part time, flexible
with Off-Leash Area

Experience:
Minimum of two years general office experience.
Office Software Experience (with these or similar software and platforms): Experience with FilemakerPro database, Mailchimp email platform, Quickbooks, Weebly/Wix or other 2nd party web platform, Word, and Excel; Familiarity with social networking sites and their use in marketing. Experience with writing for marketing. Experience with grant writing a plus though not necessary.

Working Profile:
Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities, create and follow a calendar of responsibilities, manage details, communicate clearly and directly, strong creative writing skills, and work professionally in an informal atmosphere with a flexible schedule. Will work with supervision from the Artistic Directors.

Hours and Pay:
The Administrative Assistant will work an average of 5-6 hours per week. Hours are flexible. Minimum pay starting at $18/hour.

The Administrative Assistant will be working mainly in the home office of the Artistic Directors of the company (owners of a friendly dog), with some off-site work possible.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Data Maintenance – update information in FileMakerPro
• Marketing – create and send monthly e-newsletters and email blasts for productions and events, press releases, working with the Artistic Directors on writing the copy; update and maintain social networking sites (FaceBook, Twitter, mnartists.org, etc); update website
• Financial – track donations, enter cash disbursements and receipts in Quickbooks
• Support the organization with other administrative tasks as needed
• Attend bi-monthly board meetings and take minutes

A minimum 1-year commitment is required.

COVID
We are continuing to follow COVID practices of mask wearing, social distancing, disinfecting surfaces (especially shared work spaces), and hand washing **until all parties are fully vaccinated**. The Artistic Directors will be fully vaccinated in mid-May.

CollabArts Vol. 3 – Call for Artists

CollabArts Twin Cities is looking for artists in ANY field. Each artist will be selected to be paired with another artist to engage in collaborative art-making. This will be a six-week intensive process that will culminate in a showcase open to the community. Hosted by DanceBARN Collective and Photographic Artist Sarah Weiss, the showcase will be presented at Praxis Gallery in Minneapolis. For CollabArts Vol. 3 to be COVID conscious, the showcase will be presented in an outdoor setting, and we encourage artists to think “outside the box” of a typical gallery space. Each artist will be given a small project stipend. 

Selected artists will need to be available to work 1-on-1 (in-person or via Zoom) with their collaborative partner throughout the six-week period. There will also be two check-in group meetings throughout the process, including the following dates:

MAY 24 (7:00pm): Mandatory Artist Meet-Up at Praxis Gallery

JULY 10 (7:00pm): CollabArts Vol. 3 Showcase

We are accepting video auditions for our Spring Into Summer Workshop, June 7-25; July Full Day Summer Intensive, July 6-24; AND our August Grand Prix Solos and Variations Intensive, August 10-21.

June Spring Into Summer Workshop: Featuring Progressing Ballet Technique®. Intermediate/Advanced through Professional. Recommended ages: 11-26 years old.

July Full-Day Intensive: An exciting and rigorous ballet-based dance program featuring Artistic Directors Denise and Rick Vogt with master and guest teachers and classes in a variety of dance genres!

August Grand Prix Intensive: A focused ballet and variations workshop specializing in preparing dancers for performing or competing in national ballet competitions.

Our summer classes and programs will be structured to maximize safety and minimize health risks. Planned steps include limiting class size, staggering class times, continuing rigorous social distancing/sanitizing, and more.

Family friendly dance studio in Monticello, MN is looking for head instructors and assistant teachers for our 2021-2022 dance season. Summer training and/or hours may also be available. Opportunities to work with preschool through high school aged dancers in our recreational, pre-competitive, and/or competitive programs in a variety of genres.

Audition for Live @ The Shed 2021

Choreographers Berit Ahlgren and Helen Hatch seek dancers for a new ensemble work that will premiere at the second annual Live @ The Shed taking place August 6-8, 2021. Professional dancers of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be asked to improvise, as well as learn phrase work. We are looking for individuals who are creative, collaborative, and expressive. 

Live @ The Shed also supports work-in-progress by cast members. Opportunities for dancers in the project to share their own work will be encouraged as part of the final performances.

Audition: May 2, 2021 1:00pm-4:00pm at Saint Paul Ballet. Time slots will be assigned following registration and confirmed through email by Friday April 30. If you are unable to audition in person, you may submit a short video (under five minutes) in your registration form. Please include improvisation as well as performance footage.

Rehearsals will begin in May (full schedule sent as part of agreement) and will include optional class before scheduled rehearsal times. 

Performance Dates: August 6-8, 2021.
Five performances. 
Compensation: $800

Young Dance Seeks Program Director

Young Dance, a Twin Cities based dance education nonprofit whose mission is to transform lives through movement, seeks a Program Director, to begin in June 2021.

The Program Director will collaborate with the Young Dance Artistic Director to implement programming for our classes, youth performing company, and community partnerships.

Young Dance serves approximately 450 youth annually through our classes, youth performing company, and community partnerships. Founded in 1987, we believe young people are artists with something important to say, that there is great benefit to working across differences—be it differences in age, in ability, in race, in background—and that every body is capable of physical creative expression.

The Program Director is a 0.5 FTE position with an annual salary of $20,000.

Young Dance Seeks Marketing and Communications Director

Young Dance, a Twin Cities dance education nonprofit whose mission is to transform lives through movement, seeks a Marketing and Communications Director to spearhead communications related to promotions, programming, and fundraising, to begin June 2021.

The Marketing and Communications Director will be responsible for print and web-based communications related to programming, events, general news, and marketing. They will collaborate with other staff to create engagement with new communities, specifically BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and people with disabilities.

Young Dance serves approximately 450 youth annually through our classes, youth company, and partnerships.

The Marketing and Communications Director is a 0.45 FTE position with an annual salary of $17,500.
