Parking is free in front of the building (the BLUE lot is closest to our space), in the lots across the street, and in the underground parking garage (follow the Can Can Wonderland arrow).

Class Rates
Adult Drop-Ins: $18 per class or $80 for a 5-class pass – good for either ballet or jazz; must be used within 6 months.
Professional Dancers: $15 per class. Email admin@collidetheatrical.org for a discount code.

Modern Dance Class with Thern Anderson at Tapestry

Anyone can dance and find pleasure in movement! Thern Anderson’s modern dance class at Tapestry Folkdance Center will focus on body awareness, rhythm, movement patterns through space, and ensemble dancing. Improvisation will give dancers the opportunity to explore their own movement creativity and its relation to others. Floor work using somatic principles will build strength, ease and flexibility. All ages are welcome!

The Arena supports a diverse cultural environment in Minneapolis through classes offered at the studio. Affordable classes are offered for adults at a bustling location that supports those who are interested in the moving arts.

Winter Session begins January 2 and runs to March 17, with 11 weeks of a variety of class offerings. Professional-level dancers of all styles are welcome!

MotionArt Adult Modern Dance Classes

No classes December 24-January 2.

MotionArt’s mission is to share the art of dance and the joy of movement with people of all ages and abilities. We strive to enrich lives by fostering creativity, body awareness, and self-expression in a fun, non-competitive, welcoming environment.

We offer ongoing dance classes in-studio, on Zoom, and outside (weather permitting). Paying the regular rate helps keep our organization afloat; however, no one will be turned away for inability to pay. There is also an option to pay what you can.

New Creative Movement Classes Plus More at Young Dance

Since 1987, Young Dance has encouraged youth in our community to build body and spirit through the art of dance. Our mission is to transform lives through movement. We are an inclusive community where creativity flourishes, encouraging personal and artistic excellence through diverse forms of dance.

Classes are already running and many are at capacity!

Afro-Modern, Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm
Ballet 2, Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30pm
Modern 3, Thursdays from 6:45-8:30pm

There is still room for students in Afro-Modern. Taught by Aneka McMullen, Afro-Modern (10-18 years old) is a contemporary class where dancers explore full-body expression rooted in West African, Caribbean, and American dance traditions. Also for students ages 10-18, Ballet 2 is taught by Hannah Pierce. Young Dance teaches ballet skills from a body-positive lens that builds terminology, coordination, flexibility, and rhythm. Finally, Modern 3 (11-14 years old) is a contemporary dance exploration of Space, Time, Body, Effort, Movement, and Form. This class is taught by Blake Nellis

Hip Hop 3, Mondays from 7:00-8:30pm
Jazz, Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm

We are excited to add Hip Hop 3 and Jazz dance to the roster in January! Hip Hop 3 is for students ages 13-18. Taught by Waswa Kalema, the class is a high-energy introduction to many styles of Hip Hop including breaking, popping, locking, and house. Jazz dance, taught by Anat Shinar, combines rhythm and rootedness with light and flowing movements to create a full-bodied and unique movement language. Jazz is for students ages 8-14. 

Creative Movement 1, Thursdays from 4:30-5:15pm

Creative Movement 2, Wednesdays from 4:30-5:15pm

A new section of Creative Movement 2 (ages 5-7) will be offered from 4:30-5:15pm on Wednesdays and a new section of Creative Movement 1 (ages 3–5) will be offered on Thursdays, also from 4:30-5:15pm. New classes begin Monday, January 2, and continue through Sunday, May 21, 2023. There is also currently space in our Friday morning, 10:00-10:45am, Creative Movement 1 class.

The final weekend of the session culminates in performances at the Luminary Arts Center.
