Open dance and fitness classes seven days a week! Class offerings include ballet, Krump, yin yoga, contemporary, heels, The Ellové Technique®, jazz, BollyX, modern, Arabic dance, hip hop, sessions, and more.

Hothouse is a multi-purpose studio space in Minneapolis featuring drop-in classes for teens and adults. Whether you’re already involved in the local arts scene, an aspiring dance professional looking to bolster your training, or just a human who loves to move, Hothouse offers classes that celebrate the bliss of movement and embrace you for who you are.

Tony Jones and Helen Hatch Teach Advanced Ballet and Pointe

During the last two weeks of December, St. Paul Ballet offers the chance to take from Tony Jones and Helen Hatch. Classes will include advanced technique and pointe for pre-professional upper students, college dance majors, and professional dancers:

New Creative Movement Classes Plus More at Young Dance

Since 1987, Young Dance has encouraged youth in our community to build body and spirit through the art of dance. Our mission is to transform lives through movement. We are an inclusive community where creativity flourishes, encouraging personal and artistic excellence through diverse forms of dance.

Classes are already running and many are at capacity!

Afro-Modern, Wednesdays from 7:00–8:30pm
Ballet 2, Tuesdays from 6:30–8:30pm
Modern 3, Thursdays from 6:45–8:30pm

There is still room for students in Afro-Modern. Taught by Aneka McMullen, Afro-Modern (10–18 years old) is a contemporary class where dancers explore full-body expression rooted in West African, Caribbean, and American dance traditions. Also for students ages 10–18, Ballet 2 is taught by Hannah Pierce. Young Dance teaches ballet skills from a body-positive lens that builds terminology, coordination, flexibility, and rhythm. Finally, Modern 3 (11–14 years old) is a contemporary dance exploration of Space, Time, Body, Effort, Movement, and Form. This class is taught by Blake Nellis

Hip Hop 3, Mondays from 7:00–8:30pm
Jazz, Thursdays from 5:30–6:30pm

We are excited to add Hip Hop 3 and Jazz dance to the roster in January! Hip Hop 3 is for students ages 13–18. Taught by Waswa Kalema, the class is a high-energy introduction to many styles of Hip Hop including breaking, popping, locking, and house. Jazz dance, taught by Anat Shinar, combines rhythm and rootedness with light and flowing movements to create a full-bodied and unique movement language. Jazz is for students ages 8–14. 

Creative Movement 1, Thursdays from 4:30–5:15pm
Creative Movement 1,  Fridays from 10:00–10:45am
Creative Movement 2, Wednesdays from 4:30–5:15pm

A new section of Creative Movement 2 (ages 5–7) will be offered on Wednesdays and a new section of Creative Movement 1 (ages 3–5) will be offered on Thursdays. New classes begin Monday, January 2, and continue through Sunday, May 21, 2023. There is also currently space in our Friday morning, 10:00–10:45am, Creative Movement 1 class.

The final weekend of the session culminates in performances at the Luminary Arts Center.

Free West African Dance Classes

Every Thursday free West African Drum and Dance classes with Fode and Whitney. Drum at 6:00pm then dance at 7:15pm. Classes are drop-in and we will have drums available on a first come first serve basis. Classes culminate in an optional student performance on February 16.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

MotionArt Adult Modern Dance Classes

MotionArt’s mission is to share the art of dance and the joy of movement with people of all ages and abilities. We strive to enrich lives by fostering creativity, body awareness and self-expression in a fun, non-competitive, welcoming environment.

We offer ongoing dance classes in-studio, on Zoom, and outside (weather permitting). Paying the regular rate helps keep our organization afloat; however, no one will be turned away for inability to pay. There is also an option to pay what you can.

Bharatanatyam Classes at the Ragamala Training Center

The Ragamala Training Center offers Bharatanatyam classes for beginners (children and adults) as well as experienced dancers. Led by highly-skilled company members, classes in Bharatanatyam dance are enriching, fun, and foster cultural awareness.

Ragamala Training Center offers introductory through advanced level classes for ages 7 through adult.
