Friday Morning Jazz: In-Person and on Zoom – Erinn this Week

Join us for Friday Morning Jazz through Zenon, in person or online!

Summer is in swing at Zenon Dance School, and Friday Morning Jazz has shifted into a hybrid format this session! You can register to be one of the ten in-person, masked, socially-distanced students to dance in Zenon Studio 4A, or you can Zoom into class from anywhere. Class runs 10:00-11:15am CST most Fridays.

Co-teachers Karla Grotting and Erinn Liebhard, along with Zenon, are taking great care to ensure that both the in-person and Zoom options will be high-quality, so join us!

This week, July 30, Erinn is teaching, and her approach to jazz emphasizes groove, interaction and improvisation, is inspired by both social and concert dance movement (particularly that with African diasporic roots), and is driven by jazz music! Friday’s class will focus on one of scholar Brenda Dixon Gottschild’s five premises of an Africanist aesthetic in dance as applied to jazz in specific – the concept of “high-affect juxtaposition.” To find out more about this concept, visit our Facebook group, linked below.

To dance in-person, register by 9:00am the Friday morning of class. To dance with us via Zoom, register by 9:50am. Both types of registrations can be done at zenondance.org.

Questions? Connect with erika@zenondance.org.

#getyourasstoclass, and we’ll see you Friday!
