Morgan Thorson Leads Professional Classes with Moving Practice

Moving Practice is a weekly class series for professional dancers. As a collective, we aim to offer classes that prioritize rigor, diversity of contemporary aesthetics, variety of class content and commitment. Professional level dancers of all styles are welcome.

Tuesdays, 9:30-11:30AM at Saint Paul Ballet
Morgan Thorson teaches in April

About Morgan’s classes:
Moving is dancing and dancing is working. We will work with prompts sourced from image, sound, drawing, touch-points, and text, to enhance states of feeling and moving. As we practice with these prompts, we grow somatic grounding, concentration and curiosity for how we make decisions, embody action and cultivate images. With this research we consider the witness as active participant, and frame and space as dynamic materials. I aspire to facilitate a space for personal and collective journey as well as the reorientation of self-perception to the magic we make when we work. Bring your notebooks.

Ananya Dance Theatre’s Shawngram Institute Ongoing Classes

Ananya Dance Theatre’s Shawngram Institute for Performance & Social Justice offers the following classes online:

Tuesdays: Yorchhā Strong, 9:00-9:30am, CDT
Wednesdays: Intro to Yorchhā, 6:30-7:30pm, CDT
Fridays: Intro to Yorchhā, 6:30-7:30pm, CDT

Classes are donation based. We suggest $10-20 per class but please donʻt let financial limitations stop you from participating. Another way to contribute is by sharing information about the classes on your social media or inviting people in your orbit to take class with you!

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Lisa Erickson Teaches Ballet via Zoom

Let loose your love of BALLET!

Lisa’s ballet classes are crafted to naturally guide students to body alignment that enhances their balance, technique and potential, while also discovering the value and importance of the use of weight in their dancing. Equally important, she trains dancers to develop the positive mindset that leads to success (that ballet, like life, is about 90% related to the stories we tell ourselves). Add to that her expectation that students have fun and appreciate and learn from their mistakes (the bigger the better! i.e., the bigger the mistake the faster we learn!), and each tudents’ experience is one of challenge, growth, empowerment and fun! Come experience it for yourself!

Thursdays: 5:30pm, Intermediate

Sundays: 1:30pm, Slow Intermediate

Mondays: 5:30pm, Advanced Beginning

All classes are offered on a sliding scale of $5-15.
