Home || Body with Vie Boheme

Home || Body is a series of workshops celebrating diverse teaching artists and how movement can help community feel like home. Hosted at Threads Dance Nexus, July’s workshop is a collaboration between Threads Dance Project and artist Vie Boheme. The program highlights teaching artists of color and provides a platform for them to share the movement practices that help them build community and feel at home in their bodies.

Vie describes her teaching practice as rooted in rigor, rest, self-reflection, and expression of shooting energy.  These workshops will feature CoreKinetics Yoga, Yin Yoga, and The Journal Vibe. Our goal is to build a transformative heat in the body to begin a conversation with it about what it needs in order for you to feel at home within it. We will build heat through CoreKinetics Yoga, explore a conversation between sensation in the body and mental clarity through The Journal Vibe – a collective journal experience, and then rest into our discoveries through yin yoga.

July 14, 7:00-8:30pm
Pay what you can, $10-40/class session.

This four-week workshop is designed for children ages 2-4 and their parent/caregiver who are interested in a shared movement experience that engages the senses of curiosity and play.

Both child and caregiver will participate in developmentally appropriate movement exercises that incorporate elements such as effort, shape, and tempo. Music will play an essential role in the class as students will be asked to respond to sounds as well as make sounds themselves. Participants will be encouraged to join at their own comfort level with the understanding that observation is often the best form of learning with younger children. This class will give children and caregivers the opportunity to learn more about themselves and one another through the art form of dance.
