make : magnify Interdisciplinary Arts Festival

Calling for Twin Cities artists of all mediums interested in collaborative practice for creation and performance opportunities!

A team from the University of Minnesota Dance Production class is producing a multi-disciplinary arts festival showing new works that will be made collaboratively. Our goal is to connect artists in the community in co-creation practices through residency periods.

6-9 artists of various disciplines will be grouped in artistic partnerships of 2 or 3. Artists will be expected to create a multi-media work with their collaborators during a 2-week residency. These residencies will take place between March 11 and April 5 with a festival-style performance on April 13. This will be located within the Arts Quarter of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. Residency times are flexible. 20 hours in a rehearsal space are guaranteed for each residency.

Applicants should have an interest in working with multiple disciplines and a desire to show original work. They should also have an open mind to new ideas and processes!

Les Grands Ballets Canadiens Dances Beethoven – Presented By Northrop

Les Grands Ballets Canadiens returns to Northrop for the first time since 2006, dancing two monumental masterpieces. The iconic four-note opening of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony—said to represent “Fate knocking on Man’s door”—inspired American choreographer Garrett Smith’s Complete. The late Uwe Scholz’s choreography for Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 is considered his masterwork—displaying inventiveness and exceptional musicality. As the music races along at an irrepressible pace, these gorgeous artists convey the sheer joy of dancing to one of the most perfect symphonies ever written.
