Rituals for Nothing/prayers to no god: a Work-in-Progress Showing (Part 3)

Ever wanted to be part of a witchy ritual in the woods? Here’s your chance. Join Theresa Madaus and Monica Thomas in a kind of earnest, kind of absurd ritual for grief, despair, and this drowning, burnt-up world.

Actually, we’re not witches, we’re priestesses. And transients. And vultures. And ghosts. With cliches, mysticism, and a three-year-old oracle, we ask to feel, to not feel, to reach into our lineages past and future, to make a grocery list of sadnesses, to consume the antidote, and to find the marrow.

Performance at dusk
Saturday, September 23
at the Crosby Farm Regional Park in St. Paul.

Free, but RSVP required via google form. Exact details will be shared in your registration confirmation.

Performance is outdoors with no formal seating. Bring a blanket to sit on, or a camping chair, but you will have to carry it on a short walk. Bug spray, masks, and layers recommended.

Arrive at Crosby Farm parking lot (near the marina) at 6:45pm. Take a short walk (5-10 minutes) down a paved trail to the river. Performance will start promptly at 7:00pm and is an estimated 30 minutes long. Join us afterwards for hot cocoa and socializing! Email with access needs or questions.

Huge thanks to Hair+Nails for rehearsal support, and Charles Campbell, Judith Howard, Sam Johnson, Krista Langberg, and Jeff Wells for development support.

The Blending of Yoga + Feldenkrais Fall Series

An 8-week series with Sarah Baumert. This will be a time to create space and feel what it is like living in this body.

September 25-November 13
Mondays, 6:00-7:15pm CST

Live classes will be taught on Zoom.

When we have the courage to release places that feel physically stuck, mentally tight, or emotionally restricted, we can uncover a new internal landscape of this body we are living in. We will explore ways to move in harmony with our unique needs and how we feel each day, to encourage the body to soften and connect with the feelings of space and freedom.

Each class will infuse a more traditional yoga asana practice with the Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement method. Sarah’s teaching for each class changes based on the seasons and the students in the room. These classes are an interdisciplinary excursion of yoga, Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement, joint-specific training, self-massage, breathing exercises, movement puzzles, and a compassionate mindset to help you feel a greater sense of ease and comfort in yourself. You will train your sensitivity in such a way that you find yourself feeling more alive, vibrant, and spacious.

Each class will be recorded and the videos will be available for those attending the series. Space is limited, sign up early to hold your spot! There will be time for questions and community discussion following each lesson.

Scholarships are available for this series. Please contact Sarah directly at sarah@body-matter.com for scholarship inquiries. No questions asked.
