Katha Dance Theatre Fall Session Begins September 9

Katha Dance Theatre begins another year of Kathak (North Indian classical dance) instruction.

KDT’s rigorous curriculum encourages self-expression and creativity while providing high-quality, authentic Kathak education of the Lucknow tradition. Katha Dance Theatre’s mission is to provide access to high-quality Kathak dance education for students of all ages and abilities.

Classes emphasize strong classical Kathak technique, graceful movements, intricate footwork, pirouettes and storytelling. New dancers are introduced to the fundamentals of classical Kathak dance with a focus on its technique, terminology, and execution of dance syllables along with elements of storytelling. Returning students build upon their established technique and skill level as they advance their ability in the classroom.

Kathak is so much more than a dance style. It promotes artistic expression and creativity; increases flexibility, agility, and grace; establishes strong mind-body connections and coordination; and provides important cultural context and knowledge.

Kathak is also to any skill level; all dancers over the age of 6 are welcome!

Classes for new beginners will take place on Saturdays, 9:00-10:00am (children ages 6-10), and Saturdays, 3:00-4:00pm (youth ages 11-17 and adults). Learn more and enroll here: https://www.kathadance.org/our-school/classes/

Tuesdays, 10:00-11:30am

Professional-level dancers of all styles are welcome.

Collide Theatrical Announces 10th Season

Collide Theatrical Dance Company’s Tenth Anniversary Season will feature an exciting lineup of innovative dance theater.

The 2023/2024 season opens in September with The Great Gatsby. Originally produced by Collide in 2018, the company will present an updated version this year. Re-imagined through a modern lens, this timely tale explores the dark underbelly of the American dream, a story no less poignant a century later.

In February 2024, Collide will stage the world premiere of Hollywood, which tells the compelling and hopeful story of a Hollywood starlet and a political eco-activist struggling for survival in a climate-ravaged near-future California.

The final show in Collide’s 10th season will be a high-energy cabaret in which Collide dancers will take you on a journey through the history of Broadway’s most famous dance musicals. Broadway Dancin’ will feature numbers from some of your favorite Broadway hits, including Chicago, Cabaret, A Chorus Line, and more!

Collide will also bring back its hit production of Wonderland and tour the mental health–themed production to middle and high schools throughout Minnesota.

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Collide will celebrate its Tenth Anniversary with a fundraising gala. The evening will feature silent and live auctions, cocktails, and heavy appetizers, and will culminate with a performance highlighting favorite dance excerpts from the past decade.

Season subscriptions are available for purchase now, as are tickets for individual shows.
