Collide Theatrical Announces 10th Season

Collide Theatrical Dance Company’s Tenth Anniversary Season will feature an exciting lineup of innovative dance theater.

The 2023/2024 season opens in September with The Great Gatsby. Originally produced by Collide in 2018, the company will present an updated version this year. Re-imagined through a modern lens, this timely tale explores the dark underbelly of the American dream, a story no less poignant a century later.

In February 2024, Collide will stage the world premiere of Hollywood, which tells the compelling and hopeful story of a Hollywood starlet and a political eco-activist struggling for survival in a climate-ravaged near-future California.

The final show in Collide’s 10th season will be a high-energy cabaret in which Collide dancers will take you on a journey through the history of Broadway’s most famous dance musicals. Broadway Dancin’ will feature numbers from some of your favorite Broadway hits, including Chicago, Cabaret, A Chorus Line, and more!

Collide will also bring back its hit production of Wonderland and tour the mental health–themed production to middle and high schools throughout Minnesota.

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Collide will celebrate its Tenth Anniversary with a fundraising gala. The evening will feature silent and live auctions, cocktails, and heavy appetizers, and will culminate with a performance highlighting favorite dance excerpts from the past decade.

Season subscriptions are available for purchase now, as are tickets for individual shows.

We now have a FUN ask of you… We are seeking new images for our homepage slideshow! Please consider submitting one to two images per group or individual. Is there an artist you’d like to see on our homepage? Spread the word and invite your friends, students, colleagues, and mentors to participate!

As DanceMN expands our outreach efforts, we hope to partner with local venues and organizations – please indicate if you do not want your submitted image to be used in DanceMN promotional materials. Photos will be accepted on a rolling basis and updated periodically.

Momentary Certainties Dance Performance Opportunity

The Eagan Art House invites you to submit original choreographic works to be performed as part of the opening event of Momentary Certainties 2023, an outdoor visual art installation that examines the intertwined themes of ephemerality and permanence and is part of the Eagan Art Block 2023 celebration of art and community.

Works should reflect on the themes of the exhibition:

  • On ephemerality: The nature of performance is ephemeral, “something that lasts a very short time.” Can you consider impermanence in your movement? How do you represent fragility or decay? What does it mean to perform in a landscape which is ever-changing?
  • On permanence: In these unpredictable times, how do the ideas of steadiness and strength inform your work? How can dance be a stabilizing presence? Consider constancy (of love, of nature) in your movement.

Works should be 5-20 minutes long and will be performed one to two times over the course of the event. The performance location is outside, on the grass lawn of the Eagan Art House. Site-specific works are encouraged and can be accommodated in consultation with Art House staff.

Performance date: September 9, 2023, 1:00-3:00pm (arrival at noon)
Location: Outside, on the grounds of the Eagan Art House
Compensation: $100-$300 (dependent on the number of performers)

Please email the following information to artexhibits@cityofeagan.com by August 24 to be considered:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Short description of the original choreographic work that you will be performing
  • Number of performers
  • Link to video of a representative piece of your work

Please contact us with questions! We are looking for a diverse range of vision and a wide representation of identity. Call 651-675-5524 or email artexhibits@cityofeagan.com.
