DanceMN Homepage Image Open Call

Greetings Dance Community:

Happy Summer! We of the DanceMN Steering Committee offer heartfelt thanks for all you do, in addition to the financial contributions many of you make throughout the year to keep DanceMN a free, uncurated resource.

We now have a FUN ask of you… We are seeking new images for our homepage slideshow! Please consider submitting one to two images per group or individual. Photos should be large/high-resolution images, around 2000 pixels. Horizontal/banner-oriented images are preferred and work great for our desktop version; vertical images may be used for a mobile version.

Send your image to news@dancemn.org. Please include the name of the individual/group represented and photographer credit. Additional credits such as dancer(s) pictured may also be included. Visit our homepage for examples. If you have already submitted an image, it will stay in our library until you request it to be omitted, or you exceed two images per artist.

Is there an artist you’d like to see on our homepage? Spread the word and invite your friends, students, colleagues, and mentors to participate!

As DanceMN expands our outreach efforts, we hope to partner with local venues and organizations – please indicate if you do not want your submitted image to be used in DanceMN promotional materials. Photos will be accepted on a rolling basis and updated periodically.

We look forward to seeing you at DanceMN.org soon!

Cheers,

The DanceMN Steering Committee

Autonomy and Personal Freedom – Free Intro Class Offer

Free Intro Class for Autonomy and Personal Freedom: Lessons to Connect with Yourself, a 6-week Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement Series with Sarah Baumert.

Sign up here to join the first lesson of this session for free on Wednesday, July 19 at 6:30pm.

Full series runs from July 23-September 3
Wednesdays at 6:30pm and Sundays at 4:00pm

The Feldenkrais Method® views health as the ability to meet the challenges of life with ease and grace. It is a state of being that allows us to move and function with confidence and to adapt to change with resilience. The lessons in this series will help you discover how to utilize ground forces through your skeleton so you can find your own internal sense of length, lift, and personal freedom. These teachings will aim to empower you to find agency over your own health and sense of well-being. We use imagination, appreciation, and the relationship to both space and ourselves.

If you are looking for a way to improve your health and well-being, your sense of wholeness, or your artistic/athletic performance, this series may be a good option for you. ATM lessons can help you to become more aware of your body, improve your movement patterns, and reduce pain.

Included in the Series:

  • 12 livestream classes – each lesson is taught twice, once on Sunday and once on Wednesday.
  • Mini lessons to practice throughout the week.
  • Pre-lesson anatomy.
  • The philosophical framework for ATM.
  • Recorded Q&A to listen to questions, connect with the other students, and discuss the method and tools we are learning.
  • Optional 10-minute consultation with Sarah.
  • Online forum to connect and ask questions if you are doing the recordings.
  • Email support.
  • Ability to stream recordings indefinitely.
  • Option to download recordings.

“It (Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement) is listening, thinking, feeling, appreciating both internally and externally what is happening, how the body moves in space.” Moshe Feldenkrais
