Rent the Young Dance Studios

Young Dance has two large studios available for rent in the Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul. The space is easily accessible by the Green Line light rail, the 16 and 67 Bus Lines, and with ample parking in the Fairview Business Center parking lot. It is fully ADA accessible, with ramps to the sprung studio floor and automatic door openers. 

Rentals are currently available:
Monday and Tuesday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Wednesday–Friday, 8:00am–8:00pm
Saturday, 3:00–9:00pm
Sunday, 8:00am–3:00pm

The studios are newly equipped with sprung Harlequin Marley flooring, a Bluetooth speaker system, and wifi. A projector with AV adapters is available by request. Studio 2 has ballet barres and a mirror. The studio has a clear COVID safety plan, including regular disinfecting of all floors and surfaces and a new HVAC system that refreshes the air 7-8 times per hour.

Studio 1: Measures 41′ x 38′ and rents at $25/hour
Studio 2: Measures 38′ x 38′ and rents at $20/hour

Dance A Story: Creative Movement and Storytelling for Ages 4-7
Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-12:00pm. Tuition: $150
Explore movement with a focus on storytelling.
Session 2: July 8-11 is designed for neurodivergent youth and individuals who may be sensitive to stimulation.

Camps for Ages 8-18
Morning Camps: Monday-Thursday, 9:00-11:30am. Tuition: $150
Afternoon Camps: Monday-Thursday, 12:00-4:30pm. Tuition: $250
Explore several dance genres and real-world applications in the morning, afternoon, or full day.
Session 3: July 22-25 offers an additional camp for dancers with Down Syndrome.

All Abilities Dancing Classes
Dancing with Wheels for Ages 11+
Wednesdays, 5:00-6:00pm. Tuition: $150 or with a class card.
Build dance skills and express yourself through movement for youth and adults with wheeling devices.

All Abilities Dancing for Ages 18+
Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30pm. Tuition: $150 or with a class card.
Express yourself while you explore the elements of dance and develop skills in improvisation and collaboration. For adults with and without disabilities.

Sunna – New Pilates and Yoga Studio with Discounts for Full-Time Artists

Welcome to Sunna, a wellness studio committed to your radiance through grounding and restoring, energizing and strengthening, group and individual, and mind and body practices. We specialize in Pilates, Yoga, GYROKINESIS®, and Barre class formats, with an emphasis on alignment, healing, integration, and functional movement. We foster a welcoming environment for those based in the neighborhood as well as those traveling longer distances or passing through the Twin Cities.

Featuring a wide array of knowledgeable instructors, including local dance artists Amanda Sachs, Berit Ahlgren, Eva Mohn, Genevieve Waterbury, Kari Schire, Nic Lincoln, Non Edwards, and Samantha Meryhew.

We offer discounts for full-time artists, students, and seniors. We’ve also updated all of our weekday noon classes to pay-as-able. Please visit our website to find out more!

Communal Studio is a collective space for rent for the community to take and offer classes/workshops/events at The Shops at the West End in St. Louis Park, MN.

We currently have renters offering Pilates, Yoga, Womyn’s Hip Hop, Barre, and Sound Bowl Healing.

Congratulations to the 2024 McKnight Choreographer Fellows and 2024 McKnight Dancer Fellows! McKnight Artist Fellowships deliver significant financial support to mid-career individuals whose work demonstrates artistic excellence. As a result, three Choreographer Fellows and three Dancer Fellows will individually receive $25,000 to set aside time for study, reflection, experimentation, and exploration to take advantage of an opportunity or work on a new project.

Off-Leash Area Seeks Loading and Set-Up Crew Members

Off-Leash Area is currently seeking to hire 2 individuals to join our Loading and Set-Up Crew for our Eighth Neighborhood Garage Tour scheduled this fall. The annual Neighborhood Garage Tour is Off-Leash Area’s grass-roots, community-building program that brings professional, family-friendly contemporary dance and theater directly into neighborhoods across the Twin Cities and 7-county area.

Job Description: As a member of our Loading and Set-Up Crew, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of our tour events. Responsibilities include loading and unloading equipment, setting up stage platforms, and ensuring all logistical aspects of the event are handled efficiently. One crew member will also be responsible for box office duties, while the other crew member will handle driving the U-Haul vehicle.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, including heavy platforms, with the assistance of one other person.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Background in the performing arts preferred.

Duration and Schedule: The position entails working 4 two-day weekends throughout September. Each weekend shift will be approximately 10 hours. Candidates must be available for the duration of the tour period.

Compensation: $20 per hour.

This role is not technically difficult but is a great way to pick up extra cash in a fun, unique environment. Everybody has a great time!

Red Eye Presents: New Works 4 Weeks Festival

A cornerstone of the Twin Cities arts landscape, Red Eye’s New Works 4 Weeks Festival is an annual gathering for inter/anti/transdisciplinary performance. Each year, a cohort of ten artists develops new performance works that cross disciplines of dance, theater, and music, pushing artistic form and interrogating the contemporary world. The 2024 festival contains a throughline of futurisms, bringing together many lineages and approaches to imagine how we might be otherwise.

Zenon Zone Spring Showcase and Benefit

Zenon Dance Zone Spring Showcase and MN Made Benefit is this week! New works by Zone choreographers Benjamin Johnson, Anna Pinault, Roxane Wallace, and Mary Willmeng with the Zenon Zone dancers.

Immerse yourself in the magic of local dance and support a great cause. By joining us after the performance on May 31 for our first MN Made Benefit, you are directly contributing to Zenon Dance School’s adult and youth programs and making a significant difference.

Together, we play a vital role in the Twin Cities’ vibrant dance scene, and this showcase celebrates our dance community. As we explore new material and share choreographer voices with you, Zenon Dance School is proud to be part of 41 years of dance performance, education, outreach, and community.
