James Sewell Ballet: This is Me

JSB performs as special guests with the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus, June 21 and 22, 7:30pm.

Step into a world of inclusivity, artistry, and self-expression with This is Me, a captivating concert experience brought to you by the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus (TCGMC) with special guests. Set against the majestic backdrop of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, this event promises to be a celebration of diversity, acceptance, and the transformative power of music.

James Sewell Ballet is thrilled to be performing as special guests in Every BODY, a groundbreaking commission led by TCGMC featuring over 200 singers on stage and professional dancers, exploring the complexities of body image, identity, and self-acceptance.  From the graceful movements of a dancer to the soaring melodies of a choir in harmony, Every BODY celebrates the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. It challenges societal norms and embraces the idea that our bodies are not something to be ashamed of, but rather, gifts to be cherished and celebrated.

Sol Creative Performing Arts Studio

Weekly classes in Musical Theatre Jazz, Jazz Technique, Tap Technique, and combos at Sol Creative.

Fosse Fridays every Friday from 11:00am-12:30pm! Come learn the iconic style and technique of Bob Fosse’s choreographic genius. Derived from his own physicality imperfections, the Fosse style was born and became the staple in musicals like Cabaret, Sweet Charity, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Pajama Game, Pippin, Chicago, Dancin’, and the film All That Jazz. White gloves, bowler hats, knocked knees, and a contracted posture are just a few of the signature trademarks of his original style.

Jazz Technique classes focus on flexibility, strength, vocabulary, and execution of correct Jazz Technique. A short combo is also taught in conjunction with the technique covered in class.

Tap classes begin with a warm-up, execution of tap steps, linked steps, and progressions with a monthly combo that is added on to weekly.

Musical Theatre Jazz encompasses a thorough warm-up, strengthening, technique, and combo in a Broadway-style of the likes of Chita Rivera, Ann Reinking, Cyd Charisse, Qwen Verdon, Ann Miller, Eleanor Powell, Ruby Keller, Michael Kidd, Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, Bob Fosse, and Gregory Hines.
