Dance Projects by ME is seeking a dance instructor and performer to assist in leading a series of adult community workshops and performances. This project will run April-June 2023.

Our Movement As Language workshop series provides an introduction to modern/contemporary dance and choreographic tools for participants to express themselves with movement. An ideal candidate will be open to a collaborative work environment, have teaching and choreographic experience, and be comfortable working with movers from diverse backgrounds with all levels of dance experience. The project will culminate in a public performance at the Southern Theater.

Position Title: Performer and Workshop Instructor

Planned dates and time commitments – exact times to be defined:
Three Workshops: April 14-16, April 21-23, and April 28-30
Rehearsals: Two hours Tuesdays and Thursdays in April; two hours Monday-Thursday in May and June
Tech and Performance Dates: June 12-18

Instructor and Rehearsal Rate: $40/hour
Choreography and Performance Stipend: $1450
Hours: approximately 90 total hours

Dance Projects by ME seeks to cultivate space for dance projects inspired by diverse styles and community exchange. We strive to create dance accessibility through choreography, education, and performance.

TU Dance seeks dance artists for The 3-Women Project featuring choreographic works from a group of three internationally renowned black female artists who will each work individually within their own creative processes while simultaneously seeking to explore and discover synergistic and unifying themes throughout the process. The project will incorporate educational opportunities and culminate in live, in-person performances on May 12 and 13, 2023 at The O’Shaughnessy in St. Paul. Through this 11-week creative process, TU Dance seeks to create artistic space for these three dynamic and award-winning dance artists to share their distinctly strong voices in choreographic work and their deep investment and investigations into their own artistic practice and identity as black women. TU Dance looks forward to engaging with local and national dance artists and our community to share and celebrate the perspectives of these three women through this exciting and ambitious project.

We have a strong interest in cultivating a culturally diverse group of dance artists for this project and creating a cast that represents our diverse world. Seasoned professionals to emerging dance artists with a minimum of 5 years of professional dance experience are encouraged to apply.

Flying Foot Forum (FFF) is a Minneapolis-based percussive dance/theater company.

Casting for:
A. The Red Walls – highly physical, rhythmic dancers. Bring clean street shoes.
B. Also casting for strong tap dancers who can sing. Bring tap shoes.
You may audition for both parts.

We will have space for 30 people to audition. Email flyingfootforum@gmail.com to claim a spot for the audition. Must be 18+. Must be up-to-date on COVID vaccinations. Please bring a mask.

Must be available April 9-23, 2023.
Rehearsals: Sundays starting in January: The Red Walls, 2:00-5:00pm; tap dancers/singers, 6:00-9:00pm.
This project will pay a minimum of $1,000.

We seek an active, innovative practitioner with a developing national or international profile whose creative research focuses on contemporary lensing of dance and movement practices, styles and techniques from across the global field of dance to join our program as an Assistant Professor on the tenure track.

This position will work with the dance program community to continue and expand its commitment to its vision of Contemporary Dance in Global Contexts and the education and training of Thinking Dancers and Dancing Thinkers both through their research and pedagogic practices. If applicable, they will be asked to teach in their specific movement track, as well as, in the program’s more general and expansive contemporary technique and dance composition tracks. If they have the necessary background, they will also have the opportunity to teach courses in the rest of the dance program curriculum e.g. Dance Studies and Dance Production, as well as, propose new courses. Our dance program works intentionally to build a contemporary technique track that is informed by a wide range of aesthetics from across the globe.

Young Dance is seeking teachers, assistants, and substitutes for 2022-23 and beyond. Teachers with experience in the following styles are encouraged to apply: Hip Hop, Jazz, Musical Theater, Afro-Modern, Modern/Contemporary, Ballet, Percussive, and Creative Movement. Experience working with dancers of all abilities is a plus, but not required.

Founded in 1987, we believe young people are artists with something important to say and that working across differences is a benefit to all. Our mission is to transform lives through movement. Participants enjoy our collaborative and student-led approach to dance education. Our curriculum emphasizes technique, improvisation, and choreography through the elements of dance: Body, Action, Space, Time, and Energy. Dancers develop skills in observing, participating, and reflecting in a safe and supportive environment that values a commitment to self, to the group, and to lifelong learning.

Pay rate is $48/hour for lead teaching, $24/hour for assisting.
