Rhythmically Speaking Presents The Cohort 2024

The sixteenth installment of our beloved annual summer show, The Cohort 2024, is almost here!

The Cohort 2024 program was built to share four different perspectives on and via the vibrancy of jazz and American social dance ideas. This year’s production features a cohort of excellent art and artists – featuring works by two local and two visiting choreographers, and danced by the 10 Rhythmically Speaking company dancers.

This year’s choreographers are:
Eboné Amos – Visiting Artist from Clarksville, TN
Erinn Liebhard – Rhythmically Speaking Artistic and Executive Director
Jake Nehrbass – Local Artist and Company Dancer
Maurice Watson – Visiting Artist from Greensboro, NC

Amos will revisit her work Welcome to Soulsville, which celebrates the music, dances, and soul stirrers of the 1950s and 1960s. Liebhard will create a new work titled Conversation Piece, exploring historical dance step instructional diagrams and records as visual and auditory allegories for how conversation can unfold. Nehrbass will be creating a funk-inspired tap/jazz piece titled Sonic Leather. Watson will be restaging his work Chasing the (1) = One, which explores individuality and artistic expression in one’s social community.
