Zenon Dance School – Fall Xchange Program/Work-Study

We are looking for volunteers to be a part of our Xchange Program for the upcoming Fall Session!

Xchange is Zenon’s work-study program that allows students to volunteer in exchange for dance class credit. The Fall Session will run from September 12-December 18, 2022. There will be no classes the evening of Wednesday, November 23 through Sunday, November 27.

Online shift = one class credit
In-person shift = two class credits

Mondays: 9:30-11:30am – 1 volunteer

Tuesdays: 10:00am-12:00pm – 2 volunteers

Thursdays: 9:15-11:15am – 2 volunteers
Fridays: 9:45am-12:15pm – 2 volunteers
Saturdays: 12:15-2:15pm – 1 volunteer
Sundays: 9:45-11:30am – 1 volunteer

Hothouse Studio Rental

Make Hothouse your home! Our space is available for hourly rentals to independent artists and arts organizations. Book a single session for rehearsal, or run your programming here. Like a community garden, filled with unique plots, the beauty of Hothouse is in the diversity of the people that fill our space.

Hothouse has two studios for you to choose from – Studio 1 is 900 square feet, and Studio 2 is 1000 square feet. Both studios include:

  • Sprung, Marley floor
  • Mirrors
  • Sound system
  • Portable barres
  • Fitness equipment
  • Adjustable lighting
  • Wifi
  • Individual lobbies with seating
  • Access to a restroom and filtered water station
  • Large windows with a view of the Minneapolis skyline
  • Free lot and street parking

Drop-In Classes at Hothouse

Open dance and fitness classes seven days a week! Class offerings include ballet, krump, contemporary, heels, jazz, modern, hip hop, and more.

Hothouse is a multi-purpose studio space in Minneapolis featuring drop-in classes for teens and adults. Whether you’re already involved in the local arts scene, an aspiring dance professional looking to bolster your training, or just a human who loves to move, Hothouse offers classes that celebrate the bliss of movement and embrace you for who you are.

FELDENKRAIS® Classes with Krista Langberg and Jeffrey Wells

In-person FELDENKRAIS AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT® ongoing drop-in at East Lake Aikido with Krista Langberg or Jeffrey Wells (alternating weeks).

Monday evenings, 6:00-7:00pm through December 12
Friday mornings, 9:00-10:00am through December 16

$10-$25 sliding scale per class

Drop-in any time to our ongoing Monday evening and Friday morning classes at East Lake Aikido in the Longfellow neighborhood in Minneapolis.

These classes are meant for anyone who is interested in deepening their self-awareness and possibilities of action, regardless of previous experience in the Feldenkrais Method. The space will be open 10 minutes before class begins. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early, especially if you are new to class, to sign in and familiarize yourself with the space. Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in—having a long-sleeve layer is helpful to adjust to temperature shifts. We provide blankets to practice on and any props needed for specific lessons.

MotionArt Adult Modern Dance Classes

MotionArt’s mission is to share the art of dance and the joy of movement with people of all ages and abilities. We strive to enrich lives by fostering creativity, body awareness and self-expression in a fun, non-competitive, welcoming environment.

We offer ongoing dance classes in-studio, on Zoom and outside (weather permitting). Paying the regular rate helps keep our organization afloat; however, no one will be turned away for inability to pay. There is also an option to pay what you can.

The TU Dance Center Children and Teen Program introduces the joy of creative movement and beginning dance technique. Classes, divided by age, provide a comprehensive base on which to expand by developing body awareness, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and musicality. Rent TU Dance Center Studios

TU Dance Center is available for rental when not in use by TU Dance’s programming.

TU Dance Center features a reception area and front desk for check-in or event use. Access to adjacent dressing room and green room with kitchenette are available upon request.

Studio 1: 60 x 34
Studio 2: 46 x 21

Both studios feature:

  • Sprung dance floor with Marley-type surface by Harlequin
  • Wall of mirrors
  • Portable ballet barre units 10′ in length
  • Room-level sound system with CD and mini-jack inputs
  • 50′ LCD TV cart for presentation and videoconferencing
  • Large windows providing ample natural light

Studio 1 only: a curtain that can be drawn on entire mirror; wall-mounted ballet barres of 27′ and 33′.

Rental Fees:
Individual artists: $18/hour.
Nonprofit organizations: $22/hour for rehearsals.

Erinn and Karla Co-Teach the Friday Morning Jazz Fall Session

Come groove with both Erinn Liebhard and Karla Grotting as we kick off another session of Friday Morning Jazz dance class at Zenon Dance School! Class runs 10:00-11:15am CST and remains hybrid, with space for 10 masked and distanced students in-studio and a high-quality Zoom option for folks joining from home/remotely. Erinn and Karla love to explore and appreciate the groove, musicality, groundedness and personal and social expression found in jazz music and dance, and hope you’ll drop by to kick off this session doing just that!
