Young Dance 2022–23 Session Registration

Since 1987, Young Dance has encouraged youth in our community to build body and spirit through the art of dance. Our mission is to transform lives through movement. We are an inclusive community where creativity flourishes, encouraging personal and artistic excellence through diverse forms of dance.

Young Dance is committed to offering a fun and developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our Teaching Artists are some of the best in the cities, bringing their experience and expertise to a myriad of styles and techniques. The 2022–23 Session includes Afro-Modern, All Abilities Dancing, Ballet, Breaking, Creative Movement, Choreography, Dance Together, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, and the Young Dance Performing Company.

Classes begin Thursday, September 15, and continue through Sunday, May 21, 2023. The final weekend of the session culminates in performances at the Luminary Arts Center.

Rent TU Dance Center Studios

TU Dance Center is available for rental when not in use by TU Dance’s programming.

TU Dance Center features a reception area and front desk for check-in or event use. Access to adjacent dressing room and green room with kitchenette are available upon request.

Studio 1: 60 x 34
Studio 2: 46 x 21

Both studios feature:

  • Sprung dance floor with Marley-type surface by Harlequin
  • Wall of mirrors
  • Portable ballet barre units 10′ in length
  • Room-level sound system with CD and mini-jack inputs
  • 50′ LCD TV cart for presentation and videoconferencing
  • Large windows providing ample natural light

Studio 1 only: a curtain that can be drawn on entire mirror; wall-mounted ballet barres of 27′ and 33′

Rental Fees:
Individual artists: $18/hour.
Nonprofit organizations: $22/hour for rehearsals.

TU Dance Center: 2022-2023 Children & Teen Program

The TU Dance Center Children & Teen Program introduces the joy of creative movement and beginning dance technique. Classes, divided by age, provide a comprehensive base on which to expand by developing body awareness, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and musicality. MotionArt Adult Modern Dance Classes

MotionArt’s mission is to share the art of dance and the joy of movement with people of all ages and abilities. We strive to enrich lives by fostering creativity, body awareness and self-expression in a fun, non-competitive, welcoming environment. We offer ongoing dance classes in-studio, on Zoom and outside (weather permitting).

Paying the regular rate helps keep our organization afloat; however, no one will be turned away for inability to pay. There is also an option to pay what you can. Please go to motionartmn.org to sign up for classes, or contact Pam Gleason for info.

FELDENKRAIS® Classes with Krista Langberg and Jeffrey Wells

FELDENKRAIS®: Last summer class this Friday – check it out!
Weekly classes on Monday and Friday will begin again on Friday, September 9.
Krista Langberg and Jeffrey Wells teach alternating weeks.

In-person! Drop-in. No registration required.
Open to all levels and abilities – no previous experience in Feldenkrais necessary.

The Feldenkrais Method® is based on principles of physics, biomechanics, and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. Moshe Feldenkrais said, “We move according to our perceived self-image.” By expanding your perception and increasing awareness, you will become more aware of your habits and tensions and develop new ways of moving. By increasing sensitivity, the Feldenkrais Method assists you to live your life more fully, efficiently, and comfortably.

Friday Morning Jazz at Zenon – Karla This Week

Come out to Friday Morning Jazz at Zenon this Friday, August 19 for a connected and musical class with fantastic regular co-teacher Karla Grotting!

Karla’s body-centric class prioritizes musicality, personal and social expression, and technical and stylistic approaches to jazz dance.

Class runs 10:00-11:15am and is still in hybrid format, which means you can attend in-person (masked) or via Zoom. Come out and groove with us!

Advanced Adult Jazz with Collide Theatrical

Join us every Wednesday* from 9:00–10:30am for Advanced Adult Jazz with the company.

Teachers on a rotating schedule.

Studio Rentals at Collide Theatrical in St Paul

Need space to rehearse, choreograph, teach, or hold an event? Collide Theatrical has two studios available for rental in our beautiful St. Paul location.

Studio 1 has 1700 square feet of sprung floor, full wall-length mirrors, Rosco Adagio Marley dance floor, high ceilings, sky lights, and 3 chandeliers.

Studio 2 has 550 square feet of sprung wood floor.

Both studios have the following amenities:

  • Ballet barres for up to 18 students
  • Free and accessible parking and access to public transportation line
  • Gender-specific bathrooms (non-gender-specific bathroom available in the adjacent building)
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth room speakers
  • Cubbies for holding shoes and clothes
  • 2 long folding tables
  • Access to up to 30 folding chairs
  • HVAC heated and cooled spaces with temperature control
  • Hallway drinking fountain
