FELDENKRAIS® Classes with Krista Langberg and Jeffrey Wells

Live and in-person, FELDENKRAIS® classes continue all summer long!

Due to popular demand, we will be continuing to teach Awareness Through Movement® classes on Friday mornings at East Lake Aikido in South Minneapolis. It is a drop-in class, so come when you can! Open to all levels and abilities. No registration required. Details below.

The Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education uses gentle movement and directed attention to help people learn new and more effective ways of living the life they want. You can increase your ease and range of motion, improve your flexibility and coordination, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful, efficient movement. Since how you move is how you move through life, these improvements will often enhance your thinking, emotional regulation, and problem-solving capabilities.

Black Label Movement – Company Class

Join us for company class Friday, June 10 with Artistic Director Carl Flink and/or Wednesday, June 15 with Company Mover Sarah McCullough.

Classes will dig into our Black Label movement aesthetic, as well as Limón technique and improvisation.

All classes will take place at the Barker Center for Dance from 9:00-10:30am.
Only $8 to attend – pay via Venmo (@blacklabelmovement) or cash on site.

Threads Dance Nexus – A Space to Connect and Create

The Threads Dance Nexus is a brand new community hub that not only provides a home for Threads Dance Project, but also strengthens the social fabric of our Minneapolis community through the connective power of dance.

Our 1,480 square foot space has:

  • A professional-grade speaker sound system
  • Sprung floors, barres, and mirrors
  • Two ADA compliant, gender-neutral changing rooms
  • Large windows and garage door allowing for an abundance of natural light and fresh air

Conveniently located in the Seward neighborhood, we offer free parking and free side street parking. We are a five-minute walk from the Franklin Light Rail Station, and a 2-5 minute walk from the nearest bus stops (lines 2, 9, 22, 67).

To request space, please email nexusrentals@threadsdance.org. A nonrefundable deposit equal to one hour at the renter’s base rate is due to secure space.

No matter if you are a veteran dancer or slipping on your first pair of ballet shoes, Ballet Co.Laboratory is an artistic home for everyone. With 11 different adult drop-in classes offered each week, including conditioning and Pilates, we know we have the right class for you!

We’re hiring! The Cowles Education team seeks exceptional dance educators for the summer of 2022 and 2022/23 school year. The Cowles’ premier dance workshops and residencies are taught in-person and virtually across North America. Cowles Center Teaching Artists are professional dancers, choreographers, and experienced educators who use innovative approaches to bring dance into classrooms and community spaces through our Arts in Education programs.

Compensation range: $100 per session plus additional stipends for planning, meetings, paid professional development, and more.

Interim School Manager Needed at Ballet Co.Laboratory

Ballet Co.Laboratory is currently seeking an Interim School Manager for The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory.

This leadership position will work in conjunction with Ballet Co.Laboratory’s Artistic and Managing Directors to lead the artistic and administrative duties for the School. The Interim School Manager will curate curriculum, manage school staffing/scheduling, build enrollment, oversee student involvement in productions, and serve as the lead communicator for all school activities. This position also works alongside the Performance Ensemble Director and Outreach Manager to create community engagement performances.

Red Eye Theater Presents: New Works 4 Weeks Festival

A cornerstone of the Twin Cities performance landscape, the long-running New Works 4 Weeks Festival returns to live formats for the first edition in Red Eye’s new performance space in the Seward neighborhood. This process-driven, cohort-based incubator of new works culminates in a showcase of the freshest experiments from Minnesota’s most risk-taking performing artists.

Limón Dance Company’s Frances Lorraine Samson will perform José Limón’s Chaconne, a solo from 1942 set to music by Bach. The Chaconne as a dance form originated in Mexico during the Spanish occupation. Bach employed the strict musical form of the Chaconne but enriched it with powerful emotional implications. Limón has tried to capture in his dance both the formal austerity and the profound feeling of the music.

At once textural and psychological, Andrea Miller’s Island—danced by Haley Sung and Nouhoum Koita—harnesses the uncompromising virtuosity and raw vulnerability in a provocative study of the human body and its instinct to survive.
