Studio Rentals at Collide Theatrical in St. Paul

Need space to rehearse, choreograph, teach, or hold an event? Collide Theatrical has two studios available for rental in our beautiful St. Paul location!

Studio 1

  • 1700 square feet of sprung floor
  • Full wall-length mirrors
  • Rosco Adagio Marley dance floor
  • High ceilings, sky lights, and three chandeliers

Studio 2

  • 550 square feet of sprung wood floor

Both studios have the following amenities:

  • Ballet barres for up to 18 students
  • Free and accessible parking and access to public transportation line
  • Gender-specific bathrooms (non-gender-specific bathroom available in the adjacent building)
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth room speakers
  • Cubbies for holding shoes and clothes
  • Two long folding tables
  • Access to up to 30 folding chairs
  • HVAC heated and cooled spaces with temperature control

Single Rental:
Studio 1 – $30/hour
Studio 2 – $20/hour

Long-Term or Multiple-Day Rental:

Payment for rental bookings must be made 48 hours prior to your booking to hold your reservation. A signed rental agreement and certificate of insurance must be provided prior to your reservation. Tapestry Folkdance Center Classes and Dances

Auditions: Extras and Featured Extras for Local Dance Film

Casting 15 extras and 5 featured extras for the dance film REFUGE. 

  • Featured extras: must have some dance experience
  • Extras: dance experience not required
  • Looking for diverse representations of identities (gender, age, race, and abilities); all encouraged to audition

REFUGE was created by Minneapolis choreographer Jennifer Arave and will be co-directed by award-winning filmmaker Philip Harder. REFUGE is set in the year 2122. It explores the changing world in the cyborg age; unfortunately, these advancements are not enough to win the race against time in a changing climate. In REFUGE, humans and animals are both battling a hostile environment, and the digital detritus of a collapsed civilization.

Ballet Co.Laboratory Company Auditions 2022/23

Ballet Co.Laboratory is looking for versatile and accomplished classically trained male and female dancers with partnering and pointe experience for our 2022/23 performance season. In addition to paid dance contracts, Company members are paid to develop arts administration skills in efforts to develop the whole dancer. 

Position and Contract Details for Company and Apprentice Members:

  • 34-week contract beginning Fall 2022
  • Health and wellness perks – PT, massage, personal training, nutrition, shoes, etc.
  • Collaborative coaching with professional Rehearsal Assistants
  • Classical and contemporary ballet works
  • New studios with natural light, shower, gender neutral restrooms, and private staff lounge
  • Artist-driven organization 
  • Artists work on the administrative team of BCL under a secondary administrative, paid contract alongside the Managing and Artistic Directors 

Artists must be collaborative, creative, eager to learn, willing to grow, and interested in all aspects of an arts administration.

Ballet Co.Laboratory Trainee Program Auditions

Ballet Co.Laboratory is holding auditions for our 2022/23 Trainee Program on March 27, 2022. 

The Trainees of Ballet Co.Laboratory are advanced level students, typically ages 15-22, who study three times a week during the day, alongside the professional Company of Ballet Co.Laboratory. Trainees are also enrolled in Ballet Co.Laboratory’s Pre-Professional program and participate in all season productions and outreach performances. 

In-person auditions will be held at the Ballet Co.Laboratory Studios at 276 E. Lafayette Frontage Rd in Saint Paul. Dancers should be prepared for a short class consisting of barre and center and learning excerpts of BCL repertoire.

Registration opens at 11:30am and class will begin promptly at 12:00pm. 
Prior to auditions, please submit the Trainee Audition/Submission Form, with or without a video link. There is no audition fee. 

Unable to attend our in-person audition? We are also accepting video auditions.

  • Video auditions must include a short ballet center combination, short center pointe combination, and performance footage if possible
  • Videos should be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo
  • Please no videos longer than 3 minutes
  • There is no audition fee
  • All video audition materials are due by May 1, 2022. 

Final decisions will be communicated over email by June 1, 2022.

Trainee season will begin early September 2022 and go through late May 2023.

Tuition = $530/month. Scholarships and Work Exchange Positions available.

CREO Arts & Dance Conservatory Seeking Instructors and Administrators

CREO Arts & Dance Conservatory in Minnetonka is seeking dance instructors and administrators for summer 2022 and fall-spring 2022-2023.

The CREO curriculum includes ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, tap, and acro. Whether a child desires to dance for fun or train for a career in dance, our program encourages dancers of all aspirations. CREO attends at least one adjudication each year and provides many opportunities for dancers to perform on stage including our Fairy Tale Performance, The Nativity, and The Nutcracker.

Position Requirements – Teaching Staff

  • Dance degree or professional performance experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year teaching experience
  • Must enjoy working with and be able to connect with children ages 3-18
  • Must be well organized, professional, a team player, and possess strong interpersonal and relational skills
  • Available evening and weekend hours (Sundays off)
  • Available for one-month training period with stipend
  • Available to start by June 14, 2022

Position Requirements – Office Staff

  • Minimum 2-year college degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Skills in the following programs preferred: Google Calendar, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Light Room

Career Opportunity – Marketing Manager at The Cowles Center

The Marketing Manager plays a significant role in organizational messaging, branding, promotions, sales strategy, and audience engagement. This position requires a combination of strategic thinking and granular execution and implementation of developed tasks and strategies.

The Marketing Manager must be comfortable working directly with presented dance companies and individual artists to craft realistic marketing plans to drive attendance at 12-20 productions annually with sales goals from $12,000-$100,000 per production.

Internally, the Marketing Manager will work closely with the Communications Manager, Lead Designer, and Co-Directors, and other stakeholders to promote community engagement, education, and other events and to tell the holistic story of The Cowles Center. The ideal candidate is collaborative, open to feedback, and ready to bring audience growth. This is a full-time position.

Emily Michaels King Presents IN PERSON

In a companion piece to her acclaimed virtual performance, DIGITAL, Emily Michaels King brings her fearless vulnerability and inventive use of technology into the flesh.

IN PERSON is a multimedia performance that uses a complex network of devices to examine parasympathetic freeze, survival, and reclamation. This distorted and intricate mixture of device pairing, screen mirroring, choreography, and projection is an endoscopic plunge into one’s internal hard drives, digital and otherwise, for proof of life and who we are despite it all. Performed solo alongside machine companions, IN PERSON thrusts flesh against RAW file and wires the virtual to the human.

Kinetic Evolutions and Rushe Dance Project Present #pause: motion in pause

Kinetic Evolutions and Rushe Dance Project present #pause: motion in pause, a modern contemporary dance collaboration that began in late 2019. Rehearsals started but abruptly ended early spring 2020 when COVID-19 hit and Minnesota shut down. All rehearsals were cancelled; the performers went into a pause.

When rehearsing resumed, choreography was developed virtually and/or in outdoor environments. Recently, rehearsals have been held in person in a dance studio, where focus was put on interactions and developing different ways of connecting with each other. Partnering became a health risk, taboo; physical touch had to be rediscovered. The past couple of years have influenced the work and artistic choices. This performance hopes to offer space for everyone to pause from the heaviness of the world and to witness a shared experience.

#pause: motion in pause features choreography by Sarah LaRose-Holland, Samantha Heggem, John Surber, and guest choreographer Sarah Hauss.

ARENA DANCES and ASI presents THERMAL: An Interdisciplinary Installation

THERMAL is a dialogue – through movement, form and sound – centered on Earth’s changing environment. With the effects of climate change here, Thermal invites viewers to slow down and appreciate our natural surroundings while simultaneously delivering a sense of urgency to act along with anxiety for what might happen next.

Set in the historic Turnblad Mansion at The American Swedish Institute, Kim Heidkamp’s sculptural paper artwork sprawls from the ballroom stage across the floor, much like a creature from Norse mythology asleep in the landscape. Scores by composer Joshua Clausen and choreography by Mathew Janczewski of ARENA DANCES activate the work, drawing the viewer in.

This interdisciplinary installation is the culmination of a series of in-progress, outdoor showings by ARENA DANCES, with a month-long premiere February 25-March 19. The artwork, as well as video and content about the collaboration, will be on display in the Mansion throughout the course of the exhibition.

  • Select matinees will take place on Saturday, March 12 and 19 at 1:00pm, during museum hours.
