Laura Selle Virtucio will teach Erin Thompson’s advanced contemporary class at Zenon for 1 more Thursday. Laura is on faculty at the University of Minnesota Department of Theatre Arts and Dance and has performed with Shapiro and Smith Dance, Black Label Movement, Zenon Dance Company, Arena Dances, Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater, April Sellers, and Chris Schlichting.

Laura teaches on April 18. Erin will return on April 25.

Modern Dance Class with Thern at Tapestry

Dancing and finding pleasure in movement is for everyone of any age!

I’ve taught dance for all ages and experience levels for over fifty years. In my weekly session of modern dance classes, we’ll be working with somatic movement, structured improvisation, and floor work to build strength, flexibility, and ease of movement. You’ll learn patterns that move through space in community with other dancers, encouraging spatial and group awareness.

Off-Leash Area Seeks Hosts for Eighth Neighborhood Garage Tour

Off-Leash Area seeks homeowners/hosts for their eighth annual Neighborhood Garage Tour!

Do you have a 2-car garage? Do you love the performing arts? Do you enjoy bringing people together? If you answered “yes,” you would be a great host for the Garage Tour!

Off-Leash Area’s Neighborhood Garage Tour is the company’s performing arts access program where the company transforms typical 2-car garages into 40-seat black box theaters, complete with set, lights, stage, seating, and performers to connect with underserved audiences across the Metro, with the overall goal of expanding participation in the arts.

We are especially looking for households with a person with disabilities. Off-Leash Area’s mission includes working for equity and opportunity for all persons with disabilities.

Off-Leash Area Seeks Loading and Set-Up Crew Members

Off-Leash Area is currently seeking to hire 2 individuals to join our Loading and Set-Up Crew for our eighth Neighborhood Garage Tour scheduled this fall. The annual Neighborhood Garage Tour is Off-Leash Area’s grass-roots, community-building program that brings professional, family-friendly contemporary dance and theater directly into neighborhoods across the Twin Cities and 7-county area.

Job Description: As a member of our Loading and Set-Up Crew, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of our tour events. Responsibilities include loading and unloading equipment, setting up stage platforms, and ensuring all logistical aspects of the event are handled efficiently. One crew member will also be responsible for box office duties, while the other crew member will handle driving the U-Haul vehicle.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, including heavy platforms, with the assistance of one other person.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Background in the performing arts preferred.

Duration and Schedule: The position entails working 4 two-day weekends throughout September. Each weekend shift will be approximately 10 hours. Candidates must be available for the duration of the tour period.

Compensation: $20 per hour.

This role is not technically difficult but is a great way to pick up extra cash in a fun, unique environment. Everybody has a great time!

Join in on CULTIVATE, A Trainee Program morning classes and The School at TU Dance Center Level 4/5 technique classes!

Teaching artists include TU Dance Founder and Artistic Director Toni Pierce-Sands, Laurel Keen, and Abdo Sayegh-Rodriguez. These classes are for intermediate/advanced dancers with the exception of GYROKINESIS® (designed for physically active participants which include exercises that require some flexibility, coordination, and light cardio).

Rent TU Dance Center Studios

TU Dance Center is available for rental when not in use by TU Dance’s programming. TU Dance Center features a reception area and front desk for check-in or event use. Access to adjacent dressing room and green room with kitchenette are available upon request.

Studio 1 only: A curtain that can be drawn on entire mirror; wall-mounted ballet barres of 27′ and 33′.

Individual artists: $18/hour
Nonprofit organizations: $22/hour for rehearsals

Make Hothouse your home! Our space is available for hourly rentals to independent artists, freelance instructors, and companies. Like a community garden, filled with unique plots, the beauty of Hothouse is in the diversity of the people that fill our space.

Rental Space Available in Large New Building

Curio Dance, located 20 minutes from St. Paul, is building a brand new dance school with rehearsal space available for rent, starting this July.

Two studios 30ft X 40ft, two studios 40ft X 50ft, and the option to open up to 80ft X 50ft are available during daytime hours and weekends. One studio will be available during the evenings throughout the year.

Harlequin floors, natural lighting, big open windows, and spacious studios included.

MotionArt Adult Modern Dance Classes

MotionArt’s mission is to share the art of dance and the joy of movement with people of all ages and abilities. We strive to enrich lives by fostering creativity, body awareness, and self-expression in a fun, non-competitive, welcoming environment. We offer ongoing dance classes in-studio, on Zoom, and outside (weather permitting).

Paying the regular rate helps keep our organization afloat; however, no one will be turned away for inability to pay. There is also an option to pay what you can.
