Ananya Dance Theatre Seeks Assistant Manager

Ananya Dance Theatre seeks to hire a part-time Assistant Manager to start immediately.

The Assistant Manager reports to and works closely with the Managing Director and Artistic Director to manage the operations of the company.

We are looking for a Twin Cities-based professional who will work closely with the Managing Director and Artistic Director, maintaining the community-embedded professional culture the company has carefully nurtured since its inception. The person who is right for this position is a resourceful, proactive thought leader and problem solver, committed to a mission of BIPOC women and femme-centered social justice choreography, and is collaborative, energetic, people-oriented, and nurturing of the community connections that enliven our work.

This is a person who also works relatively independently to manage projects and makes decisions in close cooperation with other ADT colleagues, in keeping with the company’s culture.

This position does not have fixed hours per day every week, and the ideal candidate understands that their schedule will need to flexibly prioritize company activities.

Collide Theatrical Dance Company is seeking male-identifying dancers with strong ballet and jazz technique and acting abilities for a 16-week contract January 2022-May 2022.

Stuart Pimsler on Caring for the Caregiver

In these unprecedented times of stress and strain for healthcare providers across the globe, The Choreography of Care provides a helpful guide and insights to care for the caregiver.

This new book by Minnesota’s Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater’s Stuart Pimsler chronicles how the work of Pimsler and artistic co-director Suzanne Costello continues to respond to the needs of caregivers in professional settings and in homes. It discusses strategies for bringing creative expression to the professional caregivers’ workplace, as well as the impact art has made on the healing community. These pages speak to the importance of keeping caregivers healthy by offering ideas for their self-care and wellness.

Included are specific movement, theater, writing, visual art, and vocal exercises, and directed improvisations for invigorating the practices of healers. Similarly, artists of all disciplines will learn about touchstone issues and techniques for collaborating with the healthcare community.

Rent the Young Dance Studios

Young Dance has two large studios available for rent in the Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul. Easily accessible by the Green Line light rail, the 16 and 67 Bus Lines, and with ample parking in the Fairview Business Center parking lot. The space is fully ADA accessible with ramps to the sprung studio floor and automatic door openers. 

Rentals are available between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm Monday through Friday, after 4:00pm on Saturday, and all day on Sundays. 

The studios are newly equipped with sprung Harlequin Marley flooring, a bluetooth speaker system, and wifi. There are no mirrors. The studio has a clear COVID safety plan including regular disinfecting of all floors and surfaces, as well as a new HVAC system which refreshes the air 7-8 times per hour. Renters will also have access to a large lobby (25’ x 29’).

Studio 1: Measures 41′ x 38′ and rents at $25/hour

Studio 2: Measures 38′ x 38′ and rents at $20/hour

The School at TU Dance Center 2022 Spring Session

Registration is open for the 2022 Spring Session at The School at TU Dance Center. Classes start the week of January 10.

The Pre-Professional Program is an intensive course of study integrating modern, ballet, African dance, and creative workshops for students up to age 23. All classes in the Pre-Professional Program are offered in person with a virtual option, unless otherwise noted.

The Children & Teen Program introduces the joy of creative movement and beginning dance technique. Classes, divided by age, provide a comprehensive base on which to expand by developing body awareness, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and musicality. All classes in the Children & Teen Program are offered in person with a virtual option, unless otherwise noted.

Dancing Together is a child and parent/caregiver creative movement class. This workshop is designed for children ages 2-4 and their parent/caregiver who are interested in a shared movement experience that engages the senses of curiosity and play.

The Arena is Hiring Teachers

The Arena is seeking dance instructors for our DanceON after school programs and Moving Practice professional class series.

DanceON after school programs are for third-fifth graders on site at Minneapolis Public Schools. January-May contract.

Moving Practice is a professional dance class that meets Tuesdays, 10:00-11:30am with a monthly rotating roster of teaching artists honing their craft in contemporary forms of dance. Seeking teachers for the months of January, March, and April.

Twin Cities Ballet – Dance with Me at Lakeville Area Arts Center

Join TCB’s professional ballet dancers at the Lakeville Area Arts Center for a fun-filled interactive performance event designed for families and children ages preschool through eight. The programs are less than an hour long—the perfect length for busy schedules and curious minds.

Dance With Me highlights age- and ability-appropriate body movement using different forms of dance, and features unique monthly themes, short dance classes, optional audience participation, and short performance demonstrations in costume by TCB’s professional company dancers. You are welcome to enjoy one, many, or all of the programs!
