Young Dance offers Summer Classes and Camps

Weekly Classes
Creative Movement 1: Pre-K, ages 3-5. Monday or Tuesday offerings, 4:30-5:15pm
Creative Movement 2: K-1, ages 5-7. Monday or Tuesday offerings, 5:15-6:00pm
Dance Together: Ages 1-3 with caregiver. Monday or Tuesday offerings, 5:15-6:00pm

Dance a Story: Creative Movement and Storytelling for ages 4-7
Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-12:00pm. Tuition: $150
Explore movement with a focus on storytelling. 5 sessions. Session 2: July 8-11 is designed for neurodivergent youth and individuals who may be sensitive to stimulation.

Camps for Ages 8-18
Explore several dance genres and real-world applications in the morning, afternoon, or full-day. Full-day dancers will have a supervised lunch break. Session 3: July 22–25 offers an additional camp for dancers with Down Syndrome.

Morning Camps: Monday-Thursday, 9:00-11:30am. Tuition: $150
Afternoon Camps: Monday-Thursday, 12:00-4:30pm. Tuition: $250

Dancing with Wheels for ages 11+
Wednesdays, 5:00–6:00pm. Tuition: $150 or with a class card.
Build dance skills and express yourself through movement for youth and adults with wheeling devices.

All Abilities Dancing for ages 18+
Wednesdays, 6:30–7:30pm. Tuition: $150 or with a class card.
Express yourself while you explore the elements of dance and develop skills in improvisation and collaboration. For adults with and without disabilities.

Rent the Young Dance Studios

Young Dance has two large studios available for rent in the Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul. Easily accessible by the Green Line light rail, the 16 and 67 Bus Lines, and with ample parking in the Fairview Business Center parking lot. The space is fully ADA accessible, with ramps to the sprung studio floor and automatic door openers. 

Rentals are currently available:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8:00am-4:00pm
Tuesday, 11:00am-4:00pm
Friday, 11:00am-4:00pm and 6:30-9:00pm
Saturday, 3:00-9:00pm
Sunday, 8:00am-3:00pm

The studios are newly equipped with sprung Harlequin Marley flooring, a Bluetooth speaker system, and wifi. A projector with AV adapters is available by request. Studio 2 has ballet barres and a mirror. The studio has a clear COVID safety plan, including regular disinfecting of all floors and surfaces and a new HVAC system that refreshes the air 7-8 times per hour.

Studio 1: Measures 41′ x 38′ and rents at $25/hour
Studio 2: Measures 38′ x 38′ and rents at $20/hour

South Minneapolis Studio Available for Rent

The Sabathani Community Center in South Minneapolis has a dance studio available for hourly rental. The studio space includes mirrors, ballet barres, and hardwood floors. The building includes security and free parking.

Hourly rates:
Rehearsals and photo shoots — $15
Classes and auditions — $20

Available for rent:
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-9:00pm
Saturdays, 10:00am-4:00pm
Closed Sundays.

Creo Arts & Dance Conservatory Adult Summer Drop-In Classes

Join us for our ballet, jazz and contemporary adult classes in a joyful and safe environment at Creo Arts and Dance Conservatory in Minnetonka. You can expect a high energy class with motivational dance artists that are experts in their craft!

Rent the Threads Dance Nexus – A Space to Connect and Create

The Threads Dance Nexus is a brand new community hub that not only provides a home for Threads Dance Project but also strengthens the social fabric of our Minneapolis community through the connective power of dance.

Our 1,480 square foot (37′ x 40′) space has:
A professional-grade speaker sound system.
Barres, mirrors, and sprung floors.
Two ADA-compliant, gender-neutral changing rooms.
Large windows and garage door allowing for an abundance of natural light and fresh air.

Conveniently located in the Seward neighborhood, we offer free parking and free side street parking. We are a five-minute walk from the Franklin light rail station and a 2-5 minute walk from the nearest bus stops (lines 2, 9, 22, and 67).

Contemporary Company Class with RJDT at Hothouse

Join Ruby Josephine Dance Theater for our weekly open company class. Grounded in contemporary styles, this class will flow through a feel-good warm up, spiraling floorwork, improvisation exercises and short combos to encourage intermediate to advanced dancers to find more fluidity, nuance and expression in their movement. Classes will be led by artistic director Ruby Josephine Smith and/or rotating company members.
