Universal Dance Destiny showcases brings the community together by providing a platform for new and seasoned performers to present their work to a diverse audience. Its family-friendly environment is defined within its high spaced and high energy performance experience designed to ignite excitement that will leave viewers talking about it to friends and families after the event. The showcase highlights dance performances of various cultures in the UNIVERSE.

Studio Rentals at Collide Theatrical in St Paul

Need space to rehearse, choreograph, teach, or hold an event? Collide Theatrical has two studios available for rental in our beautiful St. Paul location.

Studio 1 has 1700 square feet of sprung floor, full wall-length mirrors, Rosco Adagio Marley dance floor, high ceilings, sky lights, and three chandeliers.

Studio 2 has 550 square feet of sprung wood floor.

Both studios have the following amenities:

  • Ballet barres for up to 18 students
  • Free and accessible parking and access to public transportation line
  • Gender-specific bathrooms (non-gender-specific bathroom available in the adjacent building)
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth room speakers
  • Cubbies for holding shoes and clothes
  • 2 long folding tables
  • Access to up to 30 folding chairs
  • HVAC heated and cooled spaces with temperature control
  • Hallway drinking fountains. Access to kitchenette area available upon request.

Single Rental:
Studio 1 – $30/Hour
Studio 2 – $20/Hour

Long-Term or Multiple-Day Rental:
Studio 1 – $20/Hour
Studio 2 – $15/Hour

Weekly Rental Rate:
Payment for rental bookings must be made 48 hours prior to your booking to hold your reservation. A signed rental agreement and certificate of insurance must be provided prior to your reservation. Young Dance Performing Company Preseason Camp

Join Chitra Vairavan and Anat Shinar for a preseason Performing Company camp! We’ll dance the mornings away exploring a variety of techniques with special guests, develop our improvisation and dance-making skills, and build community through movement activities.

The Young Dance company is a group of passionate dancers committed to exploring themselves and their world through dance.

Company members, ages 7-18, take weekly classes and rehearse on Saturdays, September through May. The company frames its annual season around a theme that immerses dancers in artistic inquiry and produces high quality, innovative performances. Dancers work with professional artists to investigate and collaborate on choreography relative to the selected theme. Their work is presented in venues throughout the year and in a season finale concert each spring.

Threads Dance Nexus is Looking for Teachers

Threads Dance Nexus is looking for dance teachers of diverse backgrounds to join our team for our Fall Dance Session.

Session starts September 12, 2021. The ideal candidate should be an experienced dance educator, with a deep commitment to social justice, equity, and a heart for building and maintaining community. We at the Threads Dance Nexus believe dance is for everyone, and seeks instructors who can help students connect dance to their communities and themselves.

The Threads Dance Nexus is a brand new community hub that not only provides a home for the company but also strengthens the social fabric of our Minneapolis community through the connective power of dance.

Threads Dance Nexus strives to be an inclusive space where movers of any identity, age, or ability are welcome to participate in our dance classes, yoga practice, community talks and other public events.

Informational Webinar about the McKnight Fellowship Intent to Apply

McKnight Fellowships for Dancers and for Choreographers will hold two webinars for all interested applicants.

Thursday, August 19: 7:00-8:00pm

This session, led by Program Director Dana Kassel, will be accessed through Zoom’s online meeting site. RSVP to mckfell@thecowlescenter.org, and you will be sent a link to enter the webinar by the internet browser on a computer or smartphone.

This information session will be geared towards first-time applicants and focus on frequently asked questions regarding the application materials, the artistic statement, resume, and work sample.  Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat feature or are encouraged to submit a question by email when you RSVP.

The deadline for Intent to Apply submissions is Wednesday, September 8, at midnight.

2021/2022 Cowles Center Season Announced

It’s been a decade of dance! We can hardly believe that we’re announcing our tenth anniversary season! Thank you to everyone – the artists, the audiences, our community – who’s been a part of our journey so far.

Season announcements are always joyful, but this year, as we celebrate our tenth year and ease back into live, in-person performances, feels a little extra special. The goal is always to highlight the breadth and depth of Minnesota dance artists, and we think this season does just that.

Young Dance Performing Company Community Service Project

Thursday, August 19, 1:30-3:30pm

FREE and open to those interested in or signed up for the Young Dance Performing Company for the 2021-22 school year. Join Chitra Vairavan, YD Program Director, and Anat Shinar, YD Artistic Director, in a team-building afternoon through service to our community. At Young Dance, we believe in being dedicated members of our communities and that service to others empowers us and those around us.

We will meet at Young Dance and then head to the neighboring parks to do some park clean-up and movement, as well.

Twin Cities Ballet Announces Full Season of Live, In-Person Performances

Twin Cities Ballet is thrilled to announce a season of in-person performances, featuring exciting premieres, the return of some of our most popular ballets, and, as always, fantastic dancing and storytelling. You won’t want to miss it!

Season Highlights

Dracula – This world premiere is part of a mixed bill performance at Ames Center in Burnsville on October 27–28. Dracula will have an original libretto based on the classic novel, with an original musical score composed for this production by Minnesota composer Simon Sperl. 

A Minnesota Nutcracker – TCB’s beloved holiday classic with a Minnesota twist returns to Ames Center on December 10–12, and will include the launch of its new sensory-relaxed performance series, the first of its kind in Minnesota. These performances are designed to be more accessible for persons with sensory sensitivities and families with young children. In addition, TCB’s one-hour Mini-Nutcracker at Lakeville Area Arts Center on November 30 is a perfect way to introduce children and families to this holiday delight.

TCB’s Choreographic Voices – TCB artists will explore the creative process and present experimental and new works on January 28–29 at the Dance Cube performance space at Ballet Royale Minnesota in Lakeville.

Pink Floyd’s The Wall: A Rock Ballet – Back by popular demand, TCB will be performing its smash-hit original rock ballet at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul on March 11–13, with live music from popular local band Momentary Lapse of Floyd.

Giselle – The season will conclude with the beautiful ballet classic, Giselle, at Ames Center in Burnsville on May 6–8. This will be the Twin Cities Ballet company premiere of one of the most popular and enduring ballet favorites.

Erin Thompson Teaches Advanced Contemporary Classes In Person

Erin’s advanced level contemporary hybrid class through Zenon Dance School includes floor work, standing warm-ups, and phrase work, all designed to enhance the healthy use of joints and muscle groups as dancers release their weight fully into the support of the ground. Experiential awareness, body mapping, improvisation, and creative work are included as dancers channel their own expressive artistry within the movement. The delightful Dean Magraw will accompany on guitar.
