Twin Cities Ballet is excited to present our new original dance film, The Ruby Slippers: A Wizard of Oz Ballet.

Professionally filmed onstage at Ames Center, TCB’s fresh reimagining of the iconic tale features an original adapted story line, musical compilation, and choreography that ingeniously blends ballet, jazz, hip hop, and modern dance styles. Join Dorothy and her friends for this fun and approachable family-friendly event!

Two great opportunities to experience the ballet:

1) Mother’s Day Livestream Fundraising Event: Sunday, May 9 at 2:00pm

This is the premiere of the film!  While there is no cost to attend this special livestream event, we are asking and hoping for donations to help support TCB and keep it strong and vibrant. Covid-19 has caused TCB substantial financial harm, and we are so grateful for any and all donations. 

2) On-Demand Digital Streaming: May 13–16

We are also offering on-demand streaming of the film Thursday, May 13, through Sunday, May 16. During this time, you can view the film as many times as you like for a nominal one-time fee of just $40 per household.

Join us in WonderLand, a premier psychiatric hospital. Dr. Knight has the difficult task of treating a man who refers to himself as a “White Rabbit” and suffers from a severe anxiety disorder, a young woman named Alice with body dysmorphia, and a Queen figure suffering from narcissistic rage.

As the doctor digs deeply into the causes and roots of their disorders he begins to ask: what does “normal” really mean?

Collide tells this story using its signature blend of high-energy dance styles set to a modern pop-rock soundtrack.
The dance theater experience, created to suit safety requirements of COVID-19, will take the audience on a 70-minute ride into a compelling story of friendship and acceptance.

The production takes place OUTSIDE at the James J Hill House and Mill City Museum. Virtual viewing option available.

Tickets are ON SALE NOW for Jazz on Tap, a series of live jazz and tap dance shows by local dance companies Rhythmically Speaking and Keane Sense of Rhythm, happening May 22-23, 2021 at covered outdoor venue The Shed at The Lab Brewery in St. Paul!

Rhythmically Speaking is presenting The Cohort 20/21, their show rescheduled from August 2020. Keane Sense of Rhythm is presenting Mirror and Fission, featuring works by choreographer Davon Suttles. As if live dance (with proper pandemic safety protocols) isn’t enough, there will also be live music, food trucks, open jams, and great drinks!

Zenon Dance School’s Zone Scholarship Program will showcase the work of three local choreographers at its second virtual showcase on May 22.  All are welcome to celebrate new screen dance works by the Zenon Zone dancers and Winter/Spring choreographers. Works have been created and rehearsed virtually during the 20-week Winter/Spring Zone Session.

Zone offers adult dancers of all ability levels, ages, and dance styles the opportunity to challenge themselves in a session-long program. Dancers can choose from two tracks: Performance – for students with a strong intermediate or advanced level of dance technique and who are looking for opportunities to perform. Or Technique – a class-focused program where dancers work on increasing skills and challenging themselves with new styles of dance. Students are selected via a digital application submission and are offered a subsidized tuition.

Zone is an incredible platform for emerging choreographers to create innovative work and hone material, and has helped launch the careers of many successful Twin Cities choreographers.

We will be rehearsing work from our upcoming show, On The Verge. See the behind the scenes of working remotely, ask questions, and…you may even have the chance to form some of the choreography yourself!

Sway through the streets of 1950’s Paris with Ballet Co.Laboratory in Peter Davison’s An American in Paris.

Inspired by the iconic Gene Kelly musical, this production will have you tapping your toes to George Gershwin’s jazzy and recognizable score.

An American in Paris tells the story of Jerry, an aspiring American artist who meets Lise, the girl of his dreams, while exploring the City of Lights. What he doesn’t know is that Lise, the local beauty with all the charm, has already promised her heart to another. Can Jerry convince her that their love is here to stay?

An outdoor engagement, performed by the Company and School of BCL.
