Three Black performers create a trinity of vigor, Afrofuturism, and embrace in the final installment of Shamel Pitts’ Black Trilogy. In this kaleidoscopic, performance art experience of movement, original sound, light projection, and visual art, the dancers embark on a demanding hour-long journey—mesmerizing and hauntingly magical.

Studio K – Rental

Studio K, operated by Keane Sense of Rhythm, is a brand new dance space built for percussive dance. Studio K features two studios with a lobby in the Creative Enterprise Zone in the Midway area of St. Paul. Studio K is flexible as a small theater with blackout curtains on the windows.

Studio 1: 30’ x 34’ – 1020 square feet
Studio 2: 14’ x 20’ – 280 square feet

Studio Features
Sprung maple dance floor, built for percussive dance.
Wall of mirrors.
Bose sound system.
Skyline windows that provide ample natural light.

Other Amenities
Piano and two congas.
Gender-neutral bathrooms on the main floor and gender-specific bathrooms on the second floor.

Studios for Rent at Ballet Co.Laboratory

Come create at Ballet Co.Laboratory. Our artistic home is available for hourly rentals to independent artists and arts organizations. Book a single day to work on your artistry, secure a month to rehearse a show, or facilitate your weekly programming here – the choice is yours! We look forward to collaborating with you on your space needs.

The studio is accessible via the Greenline into downtown Saint Paul and the 71A or 71B bus.

We have five studios at Ballet Co.Laboratory with sprung floors, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and barres, plus four gender-neutral restrooms, changing rooms, and comfortable lobby space with Wi-fi access and ample seating. The entire facility is HVAC heated and cooled.

Studio 1: 25′ x 50′ – 15-person capacity – $20/hour
Studio 2: 25′ x 50′ – 15-person capacity – $20/hour
Studio 3: 25′ x 30′ – 8-person capacity – $15/hour
Studio 4: 42′ x 50′ – 30-person capacity – Rental available via special request

Intermediate and Advanced Recreational Program

The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory’s Recreational Program offers classes for dancers ages 10-20 with a more flexible schedule and fewer hours per week than our Pre-Professional Program.

The Recreational Program includes ballet technique classes, add on sessions, rehearsals, and performance opportunities.

Open enrollment: this program will run through May 2024.

2024 Summer Programs at The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory

The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory offers the finest dance education to artists of all ages and abilities in a nurturing and welcoming environment. Our summer programming gives students the opportunity to train with locally and nationally acclaimed dance professionals who are dedicated to the growth of each individual student.

Our offerings include: Pre-Professional Summer Intensives, Young Dancer Summer Camps and Sessions, Summer Workshops, Adult Workshops and Sessions.

Zenon Dance School – Spring Xchange Program/Work-Study

We are looking for volunteers to be a part of our Xchange Program for the Spring Session!

Xchange is Zenon’s work-study program that allows students to volunteer in exchange for dance class credit.
The Spring Session will run from March 25–June 2, 2024.

Weekday in-person shift = one class credit
Weekend in-person shift = two class credits
All online shifts = one class credit

More Ways to Participate
Outside dance-making events Saturdays, March 30, April 6, and April 13.
We are building a site-specific dance piece about this unique region using the theme for National Water Dance 2024 of “Remembering Waters Way” based on the Toni Morrison poem. We are looking for dancers and those that don’t consider themselves as such to share river stories, movement and ideas in the creation of this piece. Committing to participation in the final performance is not necessary but encouraged.
