Modern Dance Class with Thern Anderson at Tapestry

Anyone can dance and find pleasure in movement!

Thern Anderson’s modern dance class at Tapestry Folkdance Center will focus on body awareness, rhythm, movement patterns through space, and ensemble dancing. Improvisation will give dancers the opportunity to explore their own movement creativity and its relation to others. Floor work using somatic principles will build strength, ease, and flexibility. All ages are welcome!

Zenon Dance School – Spring Xchange Program/Work-Study

We are looking for volunteers to be a part of our Xchange Program for the current Spring Session!

Xchange is Zenon’s work-study program that allows students to volunteer in exchange for dance class credit.

The Spring Session will run from March 27-June 4, 2023, with no classes May 27-29.

Online shift = one class credit
In-person shift = two class credits

Hosts Needed for Off-Leash Area’s Neighborhood Garage Tour

Off-Leash Area is seeking Homeowners/Hosts for their seventh annual Neighborhood Garage Tour!

Do you have a 2-car garage? Do you love the performing arts? Do you enjoy bringing people together? If you answered yes, you would be a great host for the Garage Tour!

Off-Leash Area’s Neighborhood Garage Tour is the company’s performing arts access program where the company transforms typical 2-car garages into a 40-seat black box theater, complete with set, lights, stage, seating, and performers to connect with underserved audiences across the metro, with the overall goal of expanding participation in the arts.

This year we are especially looking for households with a person with disabilities. Off-Leash Area’s mission includes working for equity and opportunity for all persons with disabilities. Every accommodation will be made to make this the most accessible Neighborhood Garage Tour yet!

Mondays at 6:30pm

There is an opening circle check-in and a facilitated warm up which morphs into the jam. The closing circle is at 8:30pm. All skill levels and abilities welcomed. New attendees are asked to sign a waiver for the CFPA. Suggested rent donation is $5.

Rent TU Dance Center Studios

TU Dance Center is available for rental when not in use by TU Dance’s programming.

TU Dance Center features a reception area and front desk for check-in or event use. Access to adjacent dressing room and green room with kitchenette are available upon request.

Studio 2: 46 x 21

Both studios feature:

  • Sprung dance floor with Marley-type surface by Harlequin
  • Wall of mirrors
  • Portable ballet barre units 10′ in length
  • Room-level sound system with CD and mini-jack inputs
  • 50′ LCD TV cart for presentation and videoconferencing
  • Large windows providing ample natural light

Studio 1 only: A curtain that can be drawn on entire mirror; wall-mounted ballet barres of 27′ and 33′.

Rental Fees:
Individual artists: $18/hour.
Nonprofit organizations: $22/hour for rehearsals.

TU Dance Center: Children and Teen Summer Programming

The TU Dance Center Children and Teen Program introduces the joy of creative movement and beginning dance technique. Classes, divided by age, provide a comprehensive base on which to expand by developing body awareness, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, and musicality. Registration Deadline: June 26, 2023

Creative Movement: June 26-30
A 1-week program for children ages 5-8 where students will experience the connection between movement and creativity.

Introduction to Dance: July 11-20
A 2-week program for ages 9-12 welcomes beginners and introduces various techniques and concepts of dance to offer young movers the chance to experience a variety of ways to approach movement.

Bridge Level: July 10-22
A 2-week program for students ages 10-14 preparing for a deeper engagement in dance that includes introductory dance technique classes with a focus on the creative process.

Teen Level: July 10-22
This 2-week program is entry-level for students typically aged 14-19 that will focus on the techniques of Modern, Ballet, Hip Hop, and African Dance. Students will learn basic fundamentals of dance technique along with exploring their individual artistic expression.
