Hothouse Studio Rental

Make Hothouse your home! Our space is available for hourly rentals to independent artists and arts organizations. Book a single session for rehearsal, or run your programming here. Like a community garden, filled with unique plots, the beauty of Hothouse is in the diversity of the people that fill our space.

Hothouse has two studios for you to choose from – Studio 1 is 900 square feet, and Studio 2 is 1000 square feet. Both studios include:

  • Sprung, Marley floor
  • Mirrors
  • Sound system
  • Portable barres
  • Fitness equipment
  • Adjustable lighting
  • Wifi
  • Individual lobbies with seating
  • Access to a restroom and filtered water station
  • Large windows with a view of the Minneapolis skyline
  • Free lot and street parking

Rental prices vary based on the type of event, starting at just $12 per hour. Fill out the First Time Rental Request form at the bottom of this page to introduce yourself and book the space!

Drop-In Classes at Hothouse

Open dance and fitness classes seven days a week! Class offerings include ballet, Krump, Yin Yoga, contemporary, heels, The Ellové Technique®, jazz, BollyX, modern, Arabic dance, hip hop, sessions, and more.

Hothouse is a multi-purpose studio space in Minneapolis featuring drop-in classes for teens and adults. Whether you’re already involved in the local arts scene, an aspiring dance professional looking to bolster your training, or just a human who loves to move, Hothouse offers classes that celebrate the bliss of movement and embrace you for who you are.

Renter Spot Open with b100 Beginning December 1

Housed in the Northwestern Building in downtown St. Paul, b100 is a space dedicated to equitable access for dancers, videographers, photographers, performing artists and healing practitioners. Managed by Lisa Berman and Joe Tran, renters get unlimited access to this beautiful space for only $55 per month! There is a shared calendar to sign out space for a variety of uses including personal practice, company rehearsals, photography/video sessions, collaborative projects and classes.

With three distinct spaces – cork-based dance floor, large community gathering area, and enclosed former vault space – as well as a large bathroom and small kitchen sink area, there are so many unique ways to enjoy b100.  The community is also open to new ideas for managing and updating the space!

FELDENKRAIS® Classes with Krista Langberg and Jeffrey Wells

In-person FELDENKRAIS AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT® classes.

Ongoing.
Drop in at East Lake Aikido.
With Krista Langberg or Jeffrey Wells, alternating weeks.
$10-25, sliding scale per class.

Monday evenings, 6:00-7:00pm
Friday mornings, 9:00-10:00am

Drop in any time to our ongoing Monday evening and Friday morning classes at East Lake Aikido in the Longfellow neighborhood in Minneapolis.

These classes are meant for anyone who is interested in deepening their self-awareness and possibilities of action, regardless of previous experience in the Feldenkrais Method. The space will be open 10 minutes before class begins. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early, especially if you are new to class, to sign in and familiarize yourself with the space. Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in – having a long-sleeve layer is helpful to adjust to temperature shifts. We provide blankets to practice on and any props needed for specific lessons.

MotionArt Adult Modern Dance Classes

MotionArt’s mission is to share the art of dance and the joy of movement with people of all ages and abilities. We strive to enrich lives by fostering creativity, body awareness and self-expression in a fun, non-competitive, welcoming environment.

We offer ongoing dance classes in-studio, on Zoom, and outside (weather permitting). Paying the regular rate helps keep our organization afloat; however, no one will be turned away for inability to pay. There is also an option to pay what you can.

MotionArt First Friday Improv Gathering

Friday, November 4 from 6:30-8:00pm

Center for Performing Arts, Studio 105w – next to 38th Street entrance.

This event is open to people of all ages and abilities. Enjoy being present in the moment, responding to other dancers, finding new ways of moving, and discovering form as it emerges during this fun evening of creative movement. We’ll begin with an informal warm-up, then improvise together based on movement ideas offered by participants.

Come to move, to dance, to observe, or some of each!

Suggested donation, $5-15. No one turned away for lack of funds.

TU Dance Center: 2022-2023 Pre-Professional Program

The TU Dance Center Children and Teen Program introduces the joy of creative movement and beginning dance technique. Classes, divided by age, provide a comprehensive base on which to expand by developing body awareness, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and musicality. Click here to download the 2022-2023 Children and Teen Daily Schedule. Rent TU Dance Center Studios

TU Dance Center is available for rental when not in use by TU Dance’s programming.

TU Dance Center features a reception area and front desk for check-in or event use. Access to adjacent dressing room and green room with kitchenette are available upon request.

Studio 1: 60 x 34
Studio 2: 46 x 21

Both studios feature:

  • Sprung dance floor with Marley-type surface by Harlequin
  • Wall of mirrors
  • Portable ballet barre units 10′ in length
  • Room-level sound system with CD and mini-jack inputs
  • 50′ LCD TV cart for presentation and videoconferencing
  • Large windows providing ample natural light

Studio 1 only: A curtain that can be drawn on entire mirror; wall-mounted ballet barres of 27′ and 33′.

Rental Fees:
Individual artists: $18/hour.
Nonprofit organizations: $22/hour for rehearsals.
