Friday Morning Jazz at Zenon: Erinn Liebhard This Week

Come groove with Erinn at this week’s Friday Morning Jazz class at Zenon Dance School!

She’ll be focusing on the Fall season-appropriate concepts of flow and groundedness, including learning a combination to a beautiful, flowing solo tune by South African pianist Abdullah Ibrahim. Erinn’s approach to jazz emphasizes groove, interaction and improvisation, is inspired by both social and concert dance movement (particularly that with African diasporic roots), and is driven by jazz music.

Class runs 10:00-11:15am CT and remains hybrid, with space for 10 masked and distanced students in-studio and a high-quality Zoom option for folks joining from home/remotely. Drop-ins encouraged!

Rent the Young Dance Studios

Young Dance has two large studios available for rent in the Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul. Easily accessible by the Green Line light rail, the 16 and 67 Bus Lines, and with ample parking in the Fairview Business Center parking lot. The space is fully ADA accessible with ramps to the sprung studio floor and automatic door openers.

Rentals are currently available:
Monday-Thursday, 8:00am–3:30pm
Tuesday, 7:45–9:00pm
Wednesday, 7:15–9:00pm
Friday, 11:00am–9:00pm
Saturday, 3:00–9:00pm
Sunday, 8:00–10:45am and 3:15–9:00pm

The studios are newly equipped with sprung Harlequin Marley flooring, a Bluetooth speaker system, and wifi. A projector with AV adapters is available by request. Studio 2 has ballet barres and a mirror. The studio has a clear COVID safety plan including regular disinfecting of all floors and surfaces and a new HVAC system that refreshes the air 7-8 times per hour.

Studio 1: Measures 41′ x 38′ and rents at $25/hour
Studio 2: Measures 38′ x 38′ and rents at $20/hour

Young Dance Fall Classes

Since 1987, Young Dance has encouraged youth in our community to build body and spirit through the art of dance. Our mission is to transform lives through movement. We are an inclusive community where creativity flourishes, encouraging personal and artistic excellence through diverse forms of dance.

Young Dance is committed to offering a fun and developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our Teaching Artists are some of the best in cities, bringing their experience and expertise to a myriad of styles and techniques. The 2022–23 Session includes Afro-Modern, All Abilities Dancing, Ballet, Breaking, Creative Movement, Choreography, Dance Together, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, and the Young Dance Performing Company.

Classes began Thursday, September 15, and continue through Sunday, May 21, 2023. The final weekend of the session culminates in performances at the Luminary Arts Center.

Adult Drop-In Classes at BCL

No matter if you are a veteran dancer or slipping on your first pair of ballet shoes, Ballet Co.Laboratory is an artistic home for everyone. With 11 different adult drop-in classes offered each week, including conditioning and Pilates, we know we have the right class for you!

Join us in-person or virtually via Zoom. All dancers must sign-in on Mindbody. Class sign-in will close 10 minutes before class begins. Single class and 10-class cards are available and parking is always free!

Keane Fall Dance Classes

Fall registration is open!

Registration is now open for fall classes. New offerings include tap for ages five through eleven, musical theater tap, and fitness classes!

Five levels of adult tap classes! Age gracefully through dance – bones, brains, and balance.

Adult “Tappy Hour” classes are available for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Special discounts for those 65+.

Join our Youth Tap Ensemble: Choreography, improvisation, and technique on Sundays.
1:00-3:00pm: Intermediate
:2:30-6:30pm: Advanced

Black Label Movement – Company Class

Join us for company class Wednesdays, October 12 and 19 with Artistic Director Carl Flink.

Classes will dig into our Black Label movement aesthetic, as well as Limón technique or improvisation. Each class will offer a different approach or idea.

Classes will take place at the The Arena from 9:00am-10:30am.
Only $8 to attend – pay via Venmo (@blacklabelmovement) or cash on site.

Studio K Percussive Dance Space for Rent

Studio K, operated by Keane Sense of Rhythm, is a brand new dance space built for percussive dance. Studio K features two studios with a lobby area in the Creative Enterprise Zone in St. Paul.

Studio 1: 30’ x 34’ – 1020 square feet
Studio 2: 14’ x 20’ – 280 square feet

Tapestry Folkdance Center Weekly Classes

Tapestry Folkdance Center offers weekly and monthly classes and dances for all ages and skill levels at our Minneapolis, MN studios. All programs – from International to Ballroom and English Country to Seniors are ongoing. Volunteers make Tapestry Folkdance Center an amazing music and dance organization. Learn to assist with evening and weekend dance admissions, welcome visitors, or be a part of our community by opening and closing the building.

Zenon Dance School – Call for Creative Movement Assistant Instructor

Zenon Dance School is seeking an additional instructor to assist in leading our Creative Movement class for ages 3-4 years! If you are passionate about working with young dancers and looking to gain some teaching experience, we would love to hear from you.

Position Title: Creative Movement Assistant Instructor for ages 3-4
Duty: Assist the lead Creative Movement Instructor through weekly class.
Class Time: Sundays, 10:15-10:50am
Dates: Until December 18, 2022. No youth classes Sunday, November 27.
Class Format: In-person only. Masks required to be worn in the studio.
Pay: $25/hour
