Dance Innovation for Seasoned Adults 55+ Session Two at TU Dance Center

Dance teacher Tamiko French has developed a program centered around revitalizing creativity of storytelling with the building blocks of dance creation that infuses the visual and literary arts. https://vimeo.com/685038137

The 8-week workshop is designed to be sequential for participants, with each class building on the previous class. From a first class in which participants will use poetry, prose, dramatic writing, spoken word, or other writing as a stimulus to create movement, participants will learn about modern and jazz dance techniques and choreographic practice, collaborate and share results with others, study facilitated improvisation and play in dance, and refine their work for a sharing event for family, friends, and the community.

This program is for adults 55+. Pre-registration required as in-studio space is limited!

Thursdays, 10:00am-11:30am CST | In-person only. $45 per workshop.

Session 2: May 26–July 16

There will be a showing on last day of each workshop from 12:30-2:00pm.

Proof of vaccination and masks are required at the door for all participants.

Ballet Royale: June Intensive and Focused Training Program

Join Ballet Royale in June for our Focused Training Program (ages 11 and up), June Intensive (Division I & II; ages 8 and up), or our Male Dancer Intensive, for male-identifying dancers ages 10 and older!

June 13-30: Focused Training Program (ages 11 and up) Audition required for dancers new to Ballet Royale. This program can be taken for the full three weeks, or in one- or two-week blocks. 

June 13-17 or June 20-24: June Intensive (Division I  & II; ages 8 and up. Division I is June 20-24 only) This is a great one week program designed for the student who wants an extra push through June. This intensive has very limited space available. Students will focus daily on Classical Ballet Technique, pre-pointe, stretching, conditioning & repertoire. On the last day the students will perform in an in-studio showcase. Audition required for dancers new to Ballet Royale.

June 20-24: Male Dancer Intensive (ages 10 through professional) unique in Minnesota, this weeklong Intensive Program is for motivated aspiring Male Identifying Dancers accepted into Division II, III and Upper Division (Advanced Beginner through Professional). Designed by former Professional Ballet Dancer Rick Vogt, this program focuses on strength, power, technique, and performance. These classes provide a rare opportunity for men and boys to gain invaluable skills and insights beyond those presented in mixed classes. Students receive individualized attention and coaching from the state’s foremost male ballet teachers. Classes include Ballet Technique, targeted strength training, and Classical Variations. Classes will be split into separate levels and limited in class size. Audition/pre-approval required.

Dancers who are new to Ballet Royale can audition in-person on April 3rd or submit an audition video. Please see our website for more information! Audition not required for current Ballet Royale students for June programs.

Ananya Dance Theatre’s Upcoming Summer Intensive

Mark your calendars for Ananya Dance Theatre’s upcoming Summer Intensive! Happening every day starting Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 24 from 10:00 am-1:00 pm CST.

Classes will be available to attend both online and in-studio.

This two week intensive will offer different levels of interpretation, keeping in mind the different familiarity of Yorchhā** that people are entering with. Whether this is your first experience with Yorchhā*, or you’ve been practicing for multiple summers, we will meet you where you are to steer you towards individual excellence.

Yorchhā is Ananya Dance Theatre’s trade-marked contemporary technique that intersects principles of vinyasa yoga, classical Indian dance form Odishi (from the eastern Indian state of Odisha), and martial art form Chhau (also from Odisha).

Ballet Royale: July Summer Intensive

Join Ballet Royale for our July Intensive, which has been developed to give students the ultimate experience in dance, featuring top-quality professional teachers and guest Master Teachers. Under the supervision of Ballet Royale’s Directors, this program has been designed to develop a well-rounded dancer by providing strong classical ballet training as well as exposure to a mixture of other styles of dance. This intensive includes Group Special Events, Ballet Royale Summer Intensive T-shirt, and culminates in a Summer Showcase Performance.  Audition required for Division II and up (dancers nine and older).

Dates: July 11-29

Recommended for ages eight through professional; multiple progressive divisions

Zenon Dance School – Camp Zenon: Youth Dance Sampler Camps

Discover dance with a week-long camp for young artists! Not sure if your dancer has a style they like best, or looking for a way to try out something new? We’ll explore a variety of dance styles and creative movements in this one-week camp. There will be an informal showing on the last day. All abilities and levels of experience are welcome. In-person only at the Zenon Dance School studios.

Ballet Royale: Grand Prix Variations Workshop

Join Ballet Royale for our unique Grand Prix Variations Workshop. This is a focused ballet and variations workshop specializing in preparing dancers for performing or competing in national ballet competitions. Following daily Classical Ballet Technique class, dancers learn classic ballet variations and receive professional coaching. This workshop benefits all dancers, whether preparing for a competition, an upcoming performance, or simply wanting to polish and improve their artistry, technique, and quality. Class sizes are limited. Pre-competitive, Junior, and Senior Divisions. Audition required.

Erin Thompson Teaches Advanced Contemporary Classes In Person and on Zoom

Erin’s advanced level contemporary hybrid class through Zenon Dance School includes floor work, standing warm-ups, and phrase work, all designed to enhance the healthy use of joints and muscle groups as dancers release their weight fully into the support of the ground. Experiential awareness, body mapping, improvisation, and creative work are included as dancers channel their own expressive artistry within the movement. The delightful Dean Magraw will accompany on guitar.

Thursday mornings, 9:30-11:00am

Zenon Dance School – Xchange Program/Work-Study

We are looking for volunteers to be a part of our Xchange Program for the upcoming Spring Session, March 28–June 5, 2022! Xchange is Zenon’s work-study program that allows students to volunteer in exchange for dance class credit.

Online shift = one class credit
In-person shift = two class credits
